Param Sundari, starring Sidharth Malhotra and Janhvi Kapoor, is generating buzz ahead of its release on August 29, 2025. Directed by Tushar Jalota and produced by Dinesh Vijan under Maddock Films, this romantic comedy explores the cross-cultural love story between Param, a Delhi boy, and Sundari, a girl from Kerala.

The film's premise centers on the collision of two different worlds, with sparks flying in unexpected ways as cultural differences lead to both laughter and chaos. Set against the backdrop of Kerala's scenic backwaters, Param Sundari promises a heartfelt tale of love with unexpected twists.

The movie was initially slated to release on July 25, 2025, but was later postponed to August 29, 2025. The film has been granted a U/A 13+ rating by the Central Board of Film Certification (CBFC).

The film stars Sidharth Malhotra as Param Sachdev and Janhvi Kapoor as Thekkepattu Sundari Damodaram Pillai. The cast also includes Renji Panicker, Siddhartha Shankar, Manjot Singh, Sanjay Kapoor, and Inayat Verma.

The film's soundtrack is composed by Sachin-Jigar, with lyrics penned by Amitabh Bhattacharya. The first single, "Pardesiya," was released on July 30, 2025, followed by "Bheegi Saree" on August 8, 2025.

Comparisons have been drawn between Param Sundari and the 2013 film Chennai Express, starring Shah Rukh Khan and Deepika Padukone, due to the similar theme of inter-regional romance. However, the cast has addressed these comparisons, emphasizing that Param Sundari has its own distinct flavor rooted in a unique cultural context and character backgrounds. Janhvi Kapoor clarified that her character is half-Tamilian and half-Malayali, highlighting the generalization in grouping all South Indians together. Sidharth Malhotra added that Param Sundari aims to revive the rom-com genre, referencing classics like Dilwale Dulhania Le Jayenge, Kuch Kuch Hota Hai, and Hum Tum.

Param Sundari has already generated decent buzz across social media. Trade expert Ramesh Bala noted that the film has the potential to end the box office drought for both Sidharth Malhotra and Janhvi Kapoor, whose recent films have had inconsistent results.

However, the film has also faced some criticism, with Malayalam influencers and celebrities criticizing Janhvi Kapoor's Malayali accent and the stereotypical representation of Kerala and its women. Despite the controversies, Param Sundari is one of the most significant romantic releases of 2025. After its theatrical run, the film will be available to stream on Prime Video.
