At the 48th Annual General Meeting (AGM) of Reliance Industries Limited (RIL), Chairman Mukesh Ambani unveiled a new subsidiary, 'Reliance Intelligence', to spearhead the company's artificial intelligence (AI) initiatives. This move signals Reliance's ambition to become a major player in the rapidly evolving AI landscape, both in India and globally.

Reliance Intelligence is built upon four key missions:

• Building Next-Generation AI Infrastructure: Reliance Intelligence will construct gigawatt-scale AI-ready data centers, powered by green energy. Work on these data centers has already commenced in Jamnagar. These facilities will be developed in phases to align with India's growing AI needs and will be custom-built for AI training and inference. Reliance will design, build, and power state-of-the-art cloud facilities and associated network infrastructure at Jamnagar.
• Forging Global Partnerships: The subsidiary aims to bring together leading technology companies and open-source communities with Reliance's expertise to deliver performance leadership and resilient supply chains while adhering to India-first compliance.
• Delivering AI Services for India: Reliance Intelligence will focus on providing trusted and user-friendly AI services to consumers, small businesses, and enterprises. It will also develop solutions for sectors of national importance, including education, healthcare, and agriculture. The goal is to make AI accessible and affordable for every Indian.
• Fostering AI Talent: Reliance Intelligence aims to create a hub for world-class AI researchers, engineers, and designers to drive innovation.

In addition to launching Reliance Intelligence, Ambani announced key partnerships with Google and Meta to further accelerate AI adoption in India.

Partnership with Google: Reliance is expanding its partnership with Google Cloud to establish a state-of-the-art, AI-focused cloud region dedicated to Reliance in Jamnagar. Google Cloud will provide its world-class, latest-generation Gen AI compute expertise. This collaboration aims to deliver cutting-edge, secure AI infrastructure, powered by green energy and connected by Jio's advanced digital network. The dedicated cloud region will enable RIL to develop and provide high-performance, AI-first services to various organizations, backed by the scale and reliability of Jio's network and Reliance's energy leadership. Sundar Pichai, CEO of Alphabet and Google, stated that this initiative will "help shape the next leap with AI" and bring advanced compute power closer to Indian developers, startups, and enterprises.

Joint Venture with Meta: Reliance and Meta are forming a joint venture to develop and scale enterprise AI solutions for businesses in India and select international markets. Both companies have committed to an initial investment of approximately ₹855 crore (around $100 million), with Reliance holding a 70% stake and Meta owning 30%. This JV will leverage Meta's open-source Llama models to offer a secure, full-stack environment for organizations to customize, deploy, and govern generative AI models. The joint venture will focus on delivering enterprise-ready AI for India, combining open models and tools with Reliance's expertise across sectors like energy, retail, telecom, media, and manufacturing. Mark Zuckerberg, CEO of Meta, said the partnership will deliver "personal superintelligence" tools and provide businesses across India.

These strategic moves by Reliance, coupled with its partnerships with Google and Meta, underscore the company's commitment to driving India's AI revolution and establishing itself as a global leader in the AI domain.
