Tom Holland, the star of the upcoming Spider-Man: Brand New Day, sustained a mild concussion on Friday, September 19, 2025, while filming a stunt at Leavesden Studios in Watford, outside of London. The 29-year-old actor was reportedly rushed to the hospital after the accident. Production on the film has been temporarily suspended while Holland recovers.
According to reports, Holland cracked his head during the stunt. An ambulance was called to the scene at Leavesden Studios at 10:30 am on Friday to attend to a patient who had sustained an injury. The actor was then transported to a hospital for further care. Another individual, believed to be a stunt double, was also taken to the hospital.
Sources indicate that Holland will be taking a break from filming for several days as a precaution, but is expected to return to set soon. Sony Pictures and Marvel Studios are scheduled to meet on Monday to discuss how to proceed with the production.
Spider-Man: Brand New Day is the fourth film in the Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU) Spider-Man series, following Spider-Man: No Way Home (2021). The film is directed by Destin Daniel Cretton, with a screenplay by Chris McKenna and Erik Sommers. Alongside Tom Holland, the film stars Zendaya, Jacob Batalon, Sadie Sink, Liza Colón-Zayas, Jon Bernthal, Mark Ruffalo, Michael Mando, and Tramell Tillman.
Holland had expressed his excitement about filming on location again for Brand New Day, especially after the previous film was restricted to soundstages due to the COVID-19 pandemic in 2021. The movie is slated for release on July 31, 2026.
Spider-Man: No Way Home, the previous film in the series, was a massive success, grossing $1.9 billion worldwide. The film featured a crossover with previous Spider-Man actors Tobey Maguire and Andrew Garfield, as well as villains from past Spider-Man films.
Holland's other projects include his engagement to his Spider-Man co-star Zendaya, with whom he went public in 2021.
