Malavika Mohanan recently revealed her reasons for signing on to the Malayalam film "Hridayapoorvam," highlighting her long-held desire to work with superstar Mohanlal and her admiration for director Sathyan Anthikad's portrayal of women in his films.

"Hridayapoorvam," released on August 28, 2025, marks a significant milestone in Malavika's career as it is her first time sharing screen space with Mohanlal. The film, directed by Sathyan Anthikad and written by Sonu T.P. from a story by Akhil Sathyan, is a comedy-drama that also stars Sangita Madhavan Nair and Sangeeth Prathap. The reunion of Mohanlal and Sathyan Anthikad after a decade has generated considerable buzz, with expectations running high given their history of delivering classic films.

Malavika expressed her excitement about working with Mohanlal, whom she affectionately referred to as "the goat," signifying her respect and admiration for the legendary actor. She also conveyed her long-standing appreciation for Sathyan Anthikad's films, particularly his ability to create well-developed and substantial roles for female characters. According to Malavika, her character Haritha in "Hridayapoorvam" is well-etched and offers ample scope for performance, making it the perfect Malayalam project for her after a while.

In the movie, Malavika plays Haritha, a modern, Pune-born and raised Malayali girl. She described Haritha as a woman of today, driven and determined to pursue her goals, making the character relatable to her own sensibilities.

"Hridayapoorvam" has been well-received by both critics and audiences. The film's heartwarming narrative and the performances of the cast have been praised, contributing to its successful run in theaters. As part of promotional activities, Malavika Mohanan and Sangeeth Prathap visited a theater in Kerala, where they connected with Mohanlal via video call to share the audience's positive reception. Mohanlal, who is currently in the United States, expressed his gratitude to the audience for embracing the film.

The film has garnered ₹12.60 crore in just four days across India. The movie collected ₹2.85 crore on its third day, bringing its total collection to ₹8.60 crore. The film's success is attributed to its appeal as a feel-good family drama, which has resonated with a wide audience.

Malavika has several projects lined up, including "The Raja Saab" with Prabhas and "Sardar 2" with Karthi.
