Ileana D'Cruz, the actress known for her work in Telugu and Hindi cinema, has been the subject of much speculation regarding her return to acting. After embracing motherhood, D'Cruz has been taking time to focus on her family, leading many to wonder when she might grace the silver screen again.
D'Cruz, who is married to Michael Dolan, has two sons: Koa Phoenix Dolan, born in August 2023, and Keanu Rafe Dolan, born in June 2025. The actress has been open about the joys and challenges of motherhood, sharing her experiences with vulnerability and honesty.
In a recent conversation with Neha Dhupia during a "Freedom to Feed" live session, D'Cruz addressed her potential return to films. While she acknowledged missing being on screen and working with different people, she emphasized that her priority is currently her children. "I love my work and I miss it immensely. And I miss being onscreen, playing different characters and working with different people," she said. "I want to prioritise being with my boys and taking care of them because I'm doing that hands on without any help". She stated that until she is ready to get help, she needs to be there to take care of her children.
D'Cruz last appeared in "Do Aur Do Pyaar," a romantic comedy-drama released in 2024. She has seemingly ruled out an immediate comeback to Hindi and South films, emphasizing her desire to be a hands-on mother. "These boys are my world," she stated, adding that she doesn't want to work haphazardly and will take her time to prepare herself mentally and physically before returning.
Earlier this year, D'Cruz was approached for "Raid 2," a sequel to the 2018 film where she starred opposite Ajay Devgn. However, she declined the offer due to scheduling conflicts. "I miss working in movies too, and I would have loved to be a part of Raid 2," she said,.
Despite putting a pause on accepting film offers, two of Ileana's films, which she signed in 2020, were released in 2024. "Tera Kya Hoga Lovely," co-starring Randeep Hooda, explores societal issues such as the dowry system and obsession with fair skin. "Do Aur Do Pyaar," featuring Vidya Balan and Pratik Gandhi, also hit theaters.
D'Cruz's career began with the Telugu film "Devadasu" in 2006, for which she won the Filmfare Award for Best Female Debut – South. She went on to establish herself as a leading actress in Telugu cinema with successful films like "Pokiri," "Jalsa," and "Kick". In 2012, she expanded to Hindi cinema with Anurag Basu's "Barfi!", winning the Filmfare Award for Best Female Debut.
While fans eagerly await her return to the screen, Ileana seems to be relishing her role as a mother. Her focus remains on her children, and she has expressed no immediate plans to return to films. Whether she will eventually make a comeback remains to be seen, but for now, her priority is her family.
