BTS's groundbreaking hit "Dynamite" has officially surpassed 2 billion views on YouTube, marking a historic milestone for the group and K-pop as a whole. The music video, released on August 21, 2020, at 1 p.m. KST, achieved this feat on September 4, 2025, at approximately 9:16 a.m. KST, roughly five years, 13 days, and 20 hours after its initial release. "Dynamite" is now the first BTS music video to reach this landmark number, setting a new standard for the group's achievements.

"Dynamite" holds a special place in BTS's discography as their first full-English song, which broadened their appeal to a global audience. The song is a bright and upbeat disco-pop track with an infectious rhythm and playful choreography. The music video embodies the group's signature energy while showcasing a breezy and feel-good concept.

The impact of "Dynamite" extends beyond its impressive view count. Upon release, the song achieved immediate success, topping iTunes charts in 104 regions. It became the first-ever song by a Korean act to claim the top spot on Billboard's Hot 100, where it remained for three weeks. The song impressively stayed on the main songs chart for 32 weeks, setting a record for K-pop acts until Jimin surpassed it with his solo single "Who" in March of this year. "Dynamite" also earned BTS their first Grammy nomination. In 2022, the Recording Industry Association of Japan certified it diamond for exceeding 500 million streams, achieved in record time.

The song's success has cemented BTS's influence, with "Dynamite" recently ranking 34th on Apple Music's list of the "Most Played Songs Worldwide Over the Past Decade". It is one of only two K-pop group songs on the chart, along with "Butter," further demonstrating BTS's global reach.

While "Dynamite" has reached an impressive milestone, it is important to note that other music videos have higher view counts on YouTube. Psy's "Gangnam Style," released in 2012, remains the most-viewed K-pop music video with 5.69 billion views. Luis Fonsi and Daddy Yankee's "Despacito," Wiz Khalifa and Charlie Puth's "See You Again," and Ed Sheeran's "Shape of You" are the only other music videos with more views. Blackpink is the only other Korean act with multiple videos exceeding two billion views, specifically "Ddu-Du Ddu-du" and "Kill This Love". However, BTS is the first K-pop boy group to reach the 2 billion mark. The next closest boy band to reaching two billion views is BTS themselves, with "Boy With Luv" released in 2019.
