K Kavitha, daughter of former Telangana Chief Minister K. Chandrasekhar Rao (KCR), has made explosive allegations of a conspiracy within the Bharat Rashtra Samithi (BRS) aimed at fracturing her family and diminishing her role in the party. These accusations followed her suspension from the BRS for alleged anti-party activities and culminated in her resignation from both the party and her Member of the Legislative Council (MLC) post.
Kavitha has openly accused her cousin and senior BRS leader, T. Harish Rao, of orchestrating a smear campaign against her and plotting to seize control of the party. She warned that KCR and her brother, K.T. Rama Rao (KTR), could also fall victim to the same conspiracies. Kavitha alleged that Harish Rao is deliberately sowing divisions within their family to usurp power within the BRS. She claimed that Harish Rao, along with former Rajya Sabha MP Joginapally Santosh Kumar, were working to weaken the party and conspiring against KCR.
Kavitha stated that she had pleaded with her brother KTR, the BRS working president, about the false propaganda being spread against her from within the party office. However, she felt unsupported by him. She directly accused Harish Rao of colluding with current Telangana Chief Minister Revanth Reddy, alleging that the seeds of these conspiracies were sown during a Delhi trip where Harish Rao allegedly sought Reddy's support. Kavitha also claimed that Harish Rao had past ties with former Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister Y.S. Rajasekhar Reddy, describing him as a "double-shooter, not a troubleshooter".
Further intensifying her accusations, Kavitha questioned the source of Harish Rao's funds, suggesting they were linked to corruption surrounding the Kaleshwaram project. She alleged that Harish Rao used these funds to maintain control over MLAs and plotted against other senior leaders. She also implicated J. Santosh Kumar in exploiting state initiatives for personal image-building and in a sand lorry accident case where youngsters were allegedly subjected to police torture.
Kavitha urged her father and brother to recognize that Harish Rao and Santosh Kumar are individuals who wish them harm and warned them against becoming victims of their conspiracies. She suggested that sidelining these individuals was essential for the party's survival.
The Congress party has dismissed the BRS internal conflict as a family dispute over properties. However, Kavitha's allegations have exposed a deep rift within the BRS and the KCR family, raising questions about the future of the party and the roles of its key leaders. Following her release from Tihar jail, Kavitha has been independently advocating for various causes, including women's representation and Backward Classes reservations. She believes that a conspiracy was hatched against her due to these activities.
