Months after its initial release plans were disrupted, the romantic drama Aabeer Gulaal, starring Fawad Khan and Vaani Kapoor, is finally set to grace screens internationally on September 12, 2025. The film, directed by Aarti S Bagdi, experienced significant delays following the Pahalgam terror attack in April 2025, which led to increased tensions between India and Pakistan and subsequent backlash against Pakistani artists working in Indian projects.

Aarti S Bagdi, the film's director, recently shared the movie's trailer on her Instagram, confirming the new release date. Aabeer Gulaal will be released in 75 countries, although it will not be shown in India. The film was originally scheduled for release on May 9, 2025.

The trailer for Aabeer Gulaal offers a glimpse into the playful yet profound journey of Aabeer (Fawad Khan) and Gulaal (Vaani Kapoor). Their story is described as a "situationship, friendship, relationship" that evolves through serendipitous encounters. The narrative begins with Aabeer at a food contest, drawing viewers into Gulaal's spirited world of culinary flair and dance. Their connection deepens when Aabeer offers Gulaal the advice to "Make them dance," sparking a bond that quickly transforms into love. The trailer shifts to an unexpected twist, leaving audiences eager to see more.

Aabeer Gulaal promises a blend of laughter, longing, and love. The film's music also plays a significant role, featuring three standout tracks: "Khalbaliyaan," described as the club anthem of 2025; "Khudaya Ishq," a romantic ballad; and "Doriyan," a song capturing the ache of heartbreak.

The film also stars Lisa Haydon, Soni Razdan, Farida Jalal, Parmeet Sethi, and Ridhi Dogra. Aabeer Gulaal is presented by Indian Stories (UK) and produced by Vivek B Agrawal, with music by Amit Trivedi and lyrics by Kumaar.

The postponement of Aabeer Gulaal's release also coincided with Fawad Khan's Instagram being blocked in India, following a government order restricting several Pakistani artists online.

Despite the controversies and release challenges, Aabeer Gulaal is now set for a global launch across more than 1,000 screens. A source close to the film said in August that the film would be released in countries except India on August 29, 2025, but the director has confirmed that the release date is now September 12, 2025. The film explores themes of enduring love despite distance.
