Following her breakout role as Isabel "Belly" Conklin in Amazon Prime Video's hit series "The Summer I Turned Pretty," Lola Tung is embarking on an exciting new chapter in her career. As the final season of "The Summer I Turned Pretty" approaches its finale on September 17, 2025, fans are eager to see what Tung has planned next.
Tung's journey to stardom began with "The Summer I Turned Pretty," based on Jenny Han's bestselling trilogy. She auditioned for the role during her first year at Carnegie Mellon University, where she was studying acting. The show's success quickly propelled her into the spotlight.
Beyond Cousins Beach, Tung has already made significant strides in diversifying her acting portfolio. She made her Broadway debut in February 2024 as Eurydice in the Tony-winning musical "Hadestown," showcasing her talent for singing and performing live. She played the role for a limited run from February 9 to March 17, 2024.
Tung has also ventured into the world of film. She recently wrapped filming on "Forbidden Fruits," a comedic horror film directed by Meredith Alloway. In the film, Tung plays Apple, who leads a secret witch cult with coworkers Cherry and Fig. When a new hire, Pumpkin, questions their sisterhood, they are forced to confront their inner darkness. "Forbidden Fruits" is slated for a 2026 theatrical release by IFC Films and Shudder. Tung described the experience of filming "Forbidden Fruits" as a blast, noting how different it is from "The Summer I Turned Pretty". She appreciated the opportunity to work with experienced actresses like Lili Reinhart and Victoria Pedretti, who shared their wisdom and advice.
Adding to her growing filmography, Tung is set to star in Osgood Perkins' upcoming feature, "The Young People," alongside Nico Parker. The plot is currently under wraps, but filming is scheduled to begin in Vancouver in the fall.
In addition to acting, Tung has also explored opportunities in fashion. She partnered with American Eagle alongside her "The Summer I Turned Pretty" co-stars and became the face of Coachtopia, Coach's sustainable product line.
Reflecting on her role as Belly Conklin, Tung acknowledges the personal growth she experienced alongside her character. In an interview with Nylon, she shared that she has learned from Belly's experiences, especially regarding dating. Tung, however, admitted that she doesn't relate much to Belly and isn't on dating apps. "They've always scared me, even in my college days," she explained. She prefers a more organic approach to dating, believing that "it'll happen if it's right".
As she moves forward, Tung is excited to explore new roles and showcase different facets of her talent. She expressed gratitude for the opportunities she has received and looks forward to continuing her journey in the entertainment industry. "It's just cool meeting different people, directors, actors, and writers," Tung said. "It's just exciting to be on set or to be on a stage, to be working on something that you're really passionate about," she added.
