Tanushree Dutta, the actress who spearheaded India's #MeToo movement in 2018, has once again made headlines, this time for revealing that she was offered a substantial sum of ₹1.65 crore to participate in the reality show Bigg Boss. Dutta, however, declined the offer, stating that she values her privacy and principles too much to compromise them for the sake of fame or money.

In a recent interview with Bollywood Thikana, Dutta explained that she has been refusing offers to participate in Bigg Boss for the past 11 years. "Every year, they chase me to join the show, and I scold them each time," she said. She emphasized her need for personal space and inability to thrive in the chaotic environment of the Bigg Boss house. "I can't live in such an environment. I don't even stay with my family all the time; we all have our own space," Dutta elaborated.

Dutta revealed that the Bigg Boss team had offered her ₹1.65 crore, the same amount offered to another Bollywood celebrity of her stature. According to Dutta, a stylist from the Bigg Boss management team even suggested they could increase the offer, but she remained firm in her refusal.

The actress minced no words when expressing her reasons for declining the offer. "Even if they offer me the moon, I won't go," she stated. She expressed discomfort with the concept of men and women sharing beds and engaging in fights within the same space. Dutta, who is particular about her diet, questioned how the Bigg Boss team could imagine she would agree to share a bed with a man for a reality show. "I am not so cheap, doesn't matter how many crores they give me," she asserted.

Dutta's firm stance against participating in Bigg Boss aligns with her focus on spiritual growth and self-awareness. She has emphasized that her lifestyle, which includes yoga, meditation, and spiritual practices, is incompatible with the toxic environment often associated with the reality show. "I don't think I want to be on TV, especially in a space where anyone can easily insult me, can say any damn thing right in my face," she stated. She questioned the point of her spiritual practices if she were to enter such a space. Dutta has also expressed her aversion to the chaos that Bigg Boss is known for, comparing it to "muddy water" that she has no desire to jump into.

This isn't the first time Dutta has publicly expressed her disdain for Bigg Boss. Back in 2018, amidst speculation that she was using the Nana Patekar controversy to gain entry into the show, Dutta refuted the rumors and criticized the show and its host, Salman Khan. "This is a way to discredit me that I am doing this for Bigg Boss," she said at the time. "What, you think is a great aspiration? I don't think that. You think Salman Khan is god and Bigg Boss is heaven, I don't think that". She also mentioned that she is claustrophobic.

Tanushree Dutta's career began with her Bollywood debut in Aashiq Banaya Aapne (2005). She went on to act in films like 36 China Town, Bhagam Bhag, and Risk. After stepping away from the limelight in 2010, she returned to the spotlight in 2018 when she accused Nana Patekar of sexual harassment on the set of Horn 'Ok' Pleassss (2009). Her allegations sparked India's #MeToo movement.

In recent years, Dutta has faced numerous challenges, including alleged harassment and attempts to sabotage her career. She has spoken about incidents of brake tampering, food poisoning attempts, and feeling unsafe in her own home. Despite these difficulties, Dutta remains committed to her principles and continues to prioritize her well-being and spiritual growth.
