Manchester United secured a hard-fought 2-1 victory against Chelsea in a Premier League clash at Old Trafford that was filled with drama from the opening minutes. The win provides a much-needed boost for United and manager Ruben Amorim after a shaky start to the season.

The game took a dramatic turn early on when Chelsea goalkeeper Robert Sanchez was shown a straight red card in the 5th minute. Sanchez was dismissed for bringing down Bryan Mbeumo, who was through on goal, leaving Chelsea with ten men for the majority of the match. The red card was warranted as Sanchez wiped out Mbeumo on the edge of the penalty box. To compensate for the loss of their keeper, Chelsea manager Enzo Maresca brought on backup goalkeeper Filip Jörgensen, replacing Estêvão. In addition, Maresca also removed Pedro Neto, replacing him with Tosin Adarabioyo as Chelsea switched to a five-man defense.

Manchester United capitalized on their numerical advantage in the 14th minute when Bruno Fernandes scored from close range. United continued to press, and Casemiro added a second goal with a header in the 37th minute, putting them in a commanding position. However, the game took another twist when Casemiro was sent off in the fifth minute of first-half added time for a second yellow card, reducing both teams to 10 men.

Despite being a man down, Chelsea searched for a way back into the game in the second half. Trevoh Chalobah scored a header in the 80th minute, reducing the deficit and setting up a tense final period. However, Manchester United managed to hold on for the win, relieving some of the pressure that had been mounting on manager Ruben Amorim.

Speaking after the match, Manchester United's Bruno Fernandes acknowledged the importance of the win, stating that every three points are crucial at this stage of the season. Luke Shaw echoed this sentiment, emphasizing the team's desire to win and their strong defensive performance.

The victory lifts Manchester United to ninth in the Premier League standings with seven points from five games. Meanwhile, Chelsea drops to sixth place with eight points from five games. The match was a rollercoaster of emotions, with both teams experiencing periods of dominance and facing significant challenges. Ultimately, Manchester United's ability to capitalize on Chelsea's early red card proved to be the difference.
