Accenture is planning to establish a new campus in Andhra Pradesh, India, with the goal of creating approximately 12,000 new jobs. The proposed campus will be located in Visakhapatnam. This move is part of Accenture's broader strategy to expand its workforce in India, where it already has a significant presence.

The Andhra Pradesh government is reportedly on board with Accenture's plan, and the proposal is expected to be cleared soon. The state government is offering affordable land in Visakhapatnam, which is encouraging companies to hire locally. This initiative aligns with the state's objective to attract major employers and enhance local opportunities. Accenture has requested nearly 10 acres of land at a nominal lease rate as part of Andhra Pradesh's policy to attract big employers. The proposed lease rate is INR 0.99 per acre.

This development follows similar expansion plans by other major IT companies like TCS and Cognizant in Visakhapatnam. Cognizant is investing $183 million in its new Vizag campus, while TCS plans to invest over $154 million. Together, these expansions are expected to bring around 20,000 jobs to Visakhapatnam, transforming the city into a growing IT hub.

Accenture already has a substantial workforce in India, with over 300,000 employees. The new campus in Andhra Pradesh will further augment its local workforce. This expansion occurs amid evolving global dynamics, including stricter US visa regulations and potential outsourcing taxes, which are prompting global tech companies to adapt their workforce strategies.

The move to establish a campus in a tier-2 city like Visakhapatnam also reflects a growing trend among companies to tap into fresh talent pools closer to their home locations. The state government views this project as crucial for future job creation, IT sector development, and economic growth.
