At the Mumbai premiere of her upcoming film Homebound, Janhvi Kapoor paid a touching tribute to her late mother, the legendary Sridevi, by wearing one of her iconic sarees. The premiere, held on Monday, was made even more special as Homebound has been selected as India's official entry for the Best International Feature Film at the 98th Academy Awards.

Janhvi chose a royal blue and black saree adorned with intricate gold embroidery for the occasion. This saree held particular significance as it was the same one Sridevi wore to Virat Kohli and Anushka Sharma's wedding reception in 2017. The saree is reportedly a Manish Malhotra creation from his archival collection. Janhvi styled the saree with a black velvet blouse, mirroring how her mother had worn it. She accessorized with statement earrings, a choker necklace, and a sleek bun, completing the elegant and timeless look.

The choice of attire resonated deeply with fans, who saw it as a heartfelt way for Janhvi to keep her mother's memory close on a special occasion. Social media was flooded with comments praising Janhvi's tribute, with many noting the striking resemblance between her and her mother. Some fans expressed their appreciation for Janhvi staying true to the traditional style of the saree.

The Homebound premiere was a star-studded event, attended by the film's cast, including Ishaan Khatter and Vishal Jethwa, as well as filmmaker Karan Johar. Several other Bollywood celebrities, like Hrithik Roshan, Vicky Kaushal, Tamannaah Bhatia, Twinkle Khanna, and Farah Khan, were also present.

Videos circulating online also showed Janhvi warmly interacting with her boyfriend, Shikhar Pahariya's, family at the premiere. She was seen touching the feet of his grandmother and posing with the entire family on the red carpet, which fans interpreted as a sign of her growing closeness with them.

Homebound, directed by Neeraj Ghaywan, has garnered attention not only for its selection as India's official Oscar entry but also for its special screening at the 2025 Toronto International Film Festival. The film is slated to compete for a nomination, with the Academy Award nominations expected to be announced on January 22, 2026.
