Ange Postecoglou's frustration is mounting as his wait for a first win as Nottingham Forest manager continues, following a 1-0 defeat to Sunderland at the City Ground. The loss extends his winless streak to five games since taking over from Nuno Espírito Santo on September 9, with three defeats and two draws.

Forest's recent match against Sunderland saw them dominate possession with 65% of the ball and a 90% pass accuracy, but they failed to convert their chances. Sunderland, on the other hand, scored from a set piece in the first half, with Omar Alderete heading in the winner. Despite Forest's efforts in the second half, Sunderland's defense and goalkeeper Robin Roefs proved too difficult to break down.

Postecoglou acknowledged his disappointment, stating, "Tough to take. It's another game that got away from us and that has been the story of the last four or five games". He highlighted the team's inability to capitalize on their opportunities, saying, "Really disappointing goal to concede and we don't take our chances and that means we don't get the result we wanted". He further added that they had enough chances to win or get something out of the game, but they have been wasteful in front of goal.

The Forest manager also pointed to the need to improve their conversion rate, noting that they had 22 attempts at goal against Sunderland. He also commented on the free-kick decision that led to Sunderland's goal, stating that even if the referee made a mistake, they could have defended the free-kick better.

Postecoglou had made five changes to the side that drew with Real Betis in the Europa League before succumbing to defeat against Sunderland. The defeat leaves Forest in 16th place in the league table.
