In the latest episode of Mann Ki Baat, Prime Minister Narendra Modi paid heartfelt tributes to Bharat Ratna Lata Mangeshkar on her birth anniversary and remembered the contributions of Zubeen Garg, a renowned singer from Assam. The 126th episode of the monthly radio program, aired on Sunday, also commemorated the birth anniversary of Shaheed Bhagat Singh.

Remembering Lata Mangeshkar, PM Modi acknowledged her unparalleled contribution to Indian music and culture. He described her as the embodiment of dedication and artistry, whose music continues to inspire generations of singers and music lovers. Modi emphasized that anyone who connects with India's cultural and musical heritage is inevitably moved by her voice. He also highlighted her role in popularizing the works of Veer Savarkar, noting that she called him "Tatya" and sang many of his songs.

PM Modi also fondly recalled his personal bond with Lata Mangeshkar, mentioning that she used to send him a Rakhi every year without fail. He said her songs stirred human emotions, inspired patriotism, and reflected Indian culture.

In addition to Lata Mangeshkar, the Prime Minister paid tribute to Zubeen Garg, a popular singer and composer from Assam. PM Modi expressed grief over Zubeen Garg's untimely demise, recognizing him as a cultural icon who made a significant mark across the country. He acknowledged Garg's deep connection with Assamese culture and said that his music would continue to captivate generations to come.

He also mentioned that Assam is celebrating the birth centenary of Bhupen Hazarika and played Hazarika's iconic song 'Manuhe-Manuhar Babe' in Sinhala and Tamil.

The Prime Minister highlighted the importance of preserving and promoting India's cultural heritage, and he reinforced the role of art in uniting and inspiring the nation. He also urged people to celebrate the upcoming festive season with Swadeshi products to give wings to the dreams of young entrepreneurs. He reiterated Mahatma Gandhi's emphasis on the adoption of Swadeshi, noting the significant increase in Khadi sales in recent years and encouraging citizens to buy Khadi products.
