Prime Minister Narendra Modi has voiced his support for the peace plan proposed by US President Donald Trump to resolve the ongoing conflict in Gaza. Modi hailed the 20-point proposal as a "viable pathway" towards achieving long-term and sustainable peace, security, and development for both the Palestinian and Israeli people, as well as for the broader West Asian region.

President Trump unveiled the plan on Monday following a meeting with Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu. The proposal outlines a vision for Gaza as a "de-radicalized terror-free zone" that no longer poses a threat to its neighbors. A central component of the plan is an immediate cessation of hostilities, contingent upon both Israel and Hamas accepting the terms. If accepted, the plan would initiate a process involving the release of hostages, a phased withdrawal of Israeli forces, and an exchange of prisoners.

According to the proposal, upon acceptance of the agreement, there would be an immediate influx of aid into the Gaza Strip. It also emphasizes the critical need to prevent the entry of munitions into Gaza while ensuring the swift and secure flow of goods to facilitate the region's rebuilding and revitalization. A "deconfliction mechanism" would be established to coordinate these efforts.

The plan addresses the future governance of Gaza, suggesting a temporary governing board comprised of Palestinians and international experts. This transitional body would be responsible for the day-to-day administration of services, overseen by an international "Board of Peace". Trump himself would chair this board, with former British Prime Minister Tony Blair also slated to be a member. This board would establish the framework and manage the funding for Gaza's redevelopment until the Palestinian Authority can reassume control.

A key element of the proposal involves the demilitarization of Gaza, including the dismantling of all military infrastructure such as tunnels and weapons production facilities. The plan stipulates that Hamas members who commit to peaceful coexistence and disarm themselves would be granted amnesty, while those wishing to leave Gaza would be provided safe passage to other countries. Regional partners would guarantee Hamas's compliance with these obligations, ensuring that Gaza poses no future threat. An International Stabilization Force (ISF) would be temporarily deployed to Gaza to train and support vetted Palestinian police forces, consulting with Jordan and Egypt, who possess extensive experience in this area.

Netanyahu has already expressed his support for the plan, while Hamas is reportedly studying it. Trump has stated that if Hamas does not agree to the proposal, Israel will have the "full backing" of the U.S. to take necessary actions. Trump also suggested the possibility of expanding the Abraham Accords, potentially including Iran.
