As of late September 2025, actor Tyrese Gibson is facing legal trouble in Atlanta, Georgia, after an incident involving his four Cane Corso dogs and a neighbor's pet. An arrest warrant has been issued for the "Fast & Furious" star on a charge of animal cruelty, but he reportedly failed to turn himself in to authorities.
The incident occurred on September 18th in the Buckhead neighborhood of Atlanta. According to police reports, Gibson's four Cane Corso dogs, a large breed often used as guard dogs, were running loose when they attacked a neighbor's 5-year-old King Charles Cavalier Spaniel named Henry. The neighbor, Harrison Parker, stated that he let Henry out into his front yard, and upon checking on him just five minutes later, he discovered the dog had been fatally attacked with puncture wounds and internal bleeding. The dog was rushed to a veterinary hospital but did not survive.
Following the attack, the four dogs were seen at the next-door neighbor's house, prompting the owner to call the police, fearing for their safety. Animal control officers responded to the scene and secured the dogs, allowing the neighbor to safely reach their vehicle.
According to Fulton County Police Captain Nicole Dwyer, there had been multiple prior complaints about Gibson's dogs running loose in the neighborhood. In the week and a half leading up to the fatal attack, there were at least five reports of the dogs roaming freely. Dwyer stated that these prior incidents and the fatal attack led to the animal cruelty charge. She also emphasized the importance of community safety, stating that the priority is to prevent future incidents, especially involving large dogs.
Police issued a search warrant for Gibson's property on September 22nd, but the actor and his dogs were not present. Dwyer stated that Gibson had initially agreed to surrender the dogs to Animal Services but later requested additional time to decide. She informed him that if he did not comply, a search warrant would be obtained. When Gibson allegedly refused to surrender the dogs, the department secured both a search warrant for his property and an arrest warrant for animal cruelty.
Gibson's legal counsel, Gabe Banks of Banks Weaver Law Firm, issued a statement expressing condolences to the family who lost their dog. The statement also indicated that Gibson had made the "difficult decision" to rehome his dogs to a safe and loving environment following the incident. Banks asserted that Gibson is cooperating fully with authorities to address and resolve the matter responsibly and asks for privacy.
Despite the warrant for his arrest, Gibson reportedly failed to turn himself in by the requested deadline. As of September 30, 2025, police are actively seeking Gibson.
This isn't the first time Gibson has faced legal issues. In September 2024, he was reportedly arrested for failing to pay child support to his ex-wife.
