Opal AI App Builder by Google Expands Availability to India and 14 Additional Countries Globally

Google is expanding access to its no-code AI mini-app builder, Opal, to India and 14 other countries. This expansion follows an initial experimental phase in the United States, where users quickly adopted the tool to develop creative applications.

Opal allows users to build AI-powered mini-apps using natural language prompts, eliminating the need for coding knowledge. Users can describe their app idea in plain English, and the platform handles the rest by connecting prompts, AI models, and Google tools. The system then converts the app description into a multi-step workflow with inputs, generation steps, and output steps. Users can also make modifications using conversational editing.

The countries included in this rollout are Canada, India, Japan, South Korea, Vietnam, Indonesia, Brazil, Singapore, Colombia, El Salvador, Costa Rica, Panama, Honduras, Argentina, and Pakistan. This expansion makes Opal available in selected regions across North and South America, Asia, and Southeast Asia.

Opal is powered by Gemini 2.5, Imagen 4, AudioLM, and Veo models. It enables users to conduct in-depth research, draft blog posts, and even create videos to accompany their mini-apps. Google is positioning Opal as a tool for non-developers and creative individuals who want to automate tasks without learning to code. The platform competes with tools like Canva or Figma for quick app ideas and is currently best suited for prototypes rather than large-scale launches.

Recent updates to Opal include advanced debugging capabilities. Users can now run workflows step-by-step in a visual editor or iterate on specific steps in the console panel. The system displays errors in real-time, localized to the exact step where the failure occurred. Google has also made performance improvements to reduce wait times by executing complex workflows with multiple steps simultaneously.

Opal provides a visual editor to tweak each step and a gallery to view example apps. Users can prototype and share mini-apps instantly through a link, requiring only a Google account. The platform offers a user-friendly interface with a large text input area for describing app ideas, AI model selection, theme options, and a generate button.

Google's decision to expand Opal reflects its focus on making AI development more accessible globally, empowering a wider range of creators to harness AI in practical ways. By using natural language prompts, Opal simplifies app development for beginners, startups, and creators.
