Saif Ali Khan recently shared the story behind his famous Kareena Kapoor tattoo, revealing it was more spontaneous than planned. During an appearance on the talk show "Two Much with Kajol & Twinkle," Saif recounted the events leading up to getting his wife's name permanently etched on his forearm.
The conversation began with Akshay Kumar recalling an astrologer's prediction about Saif and Kareena's marriage, which he and Twinkle Khanna had witnessed. Twinkle then playfully called Saif's tattoo a "bit reckless". Saif responded by explaining that while the decision might have seemed impulsive, he was confident in his relationship with Kareena.
Saif explained that he had initially wanted to get a tattoo on his shoulder but wasn't sure what design to choose. As he discussed ideas with Kareena, he ended up getting her full name tattooed on his arm. "Before I knew it, I had got a tattoo of her full name on my arm. I actually wanted something subtle on my shoulder," he confessed.
Saif and Kareena's love story began on the set of the film "Tashan" in 2008. At the time, Kareena was a leading actress, and Saif had already established himself in the industry and had two children from his previous marriage to Amrita Singh. Saif revealed that he wasn't looking for a relationship when he went to Ladakh. However, he found himself drawn to Kareena's warmth and kindness. They began taking long walks together, during which Kareena would ask him questions about his views on love and life.
Their relationship quickly became a subject of public interest, especially after Saif got the tattoo. After dating for five years, Saif and Kareena married on October 16, 2012, in a private ceremony in Mumbai. They now have two sons, Taimur and Jehangir, who are often photographed by the media.
On the same chat show, Saif also spoke about his first marriage to Amrita Singh, emphasizing her invaluable contribution to his life and career. He acknowledged that she helped him navigate the film industry and praised her role as a mother.
Saif and Kareena's interfaith marriage was not without its challenges. Saif's sister, Soha Ali Khan, has spoken about the societal reactions to their union. Despite this, their relationship has endured, and they remain one of Bollywood's most beloved couples. Kareena continues to practice Hinduism after marriage. They are often seen together at events and share glimpses of their family life on social media. Both actors are currently working on various film projects.
