Brazil's Estevao and Rodrygo Shine with Two Goals Each in Victory Over South Korea

In a dominant display of attacking football, Brazil cruised to a 5-0 victory over South Korea in a friendly match held in Seoul on Friday. The match served as an early warm-up for the upcoming World Cup, with Estevao and Rodrygo each netting two goals to lead the Seleção to a convincing win.

Brazil, who had previously defeated South Korea 4-1 at the 2022 World Cup, once again proved too strong for the hosts in front of a crowd of 66,000 fans at the Seoul World Cup Stadium. This victory marks only Brazil's third win in their last 12 away games.

Brazil opened the scoring in the 11th minute when Bruno Guimaraes delivered a precise pass that split the Korean defense, finding Estevao who slotted the ball home from close range. Shortly after, Casemiro had a goal disallowed for offside, and a low shot from Rodrygo was saved by goalkeeper Jo Hyeon-woo. However, Brazil extended their lead four minutes before halftime with a well-executed move. Casemiro located Rodrygo inside the box, and the Real Madrid star curled a shot into the bottom corner, making it 2-0.

The Seleção continued their momentum into the second half, with Estevao scoring his second goal just two minutes after the restart, capitalizing on a mistake by Bayern Munich defender Kim Min-jae near the edge of the area. Rodrygo added his second goal soon after, converting unmarked from inside the box to make it 4-0. Vinicius Junior, Rodrygo's Real Madrid teammate, completed the scoring in the 77th minute, sealing a dominant performance for the five-time world champions.

Brazil's coach, Carlo Ancelotti, who was hired in May, expressed his satisfaction with the team's collective play. He highlighted the importance of a strong defensive foundation, which allows the individual quality of the attacking players to shine. Ancelotti also noted that the team will face teams with solid defenses at the World Cup, and this game proved that their players can overcome such challenges with their individual abilities.

For South Korea, it was a disappointing evening as they struggled to trouble the Brazilian defense. Casemiro's performance answered critics, leading the match in touches (117), passes (109), accurate passes (98), passes in the final third (26), and possession won (8). Both Estevao and Rodrygo exceeded their expected goals (xG) of 0.72 and 0.7, respectively, with two goals each. Estevao scored on both of his shots. Rodrygo was named Man of the Match.
