Mumbai, October 10, 2025 – The enchanting festival of Karwa Chauth saw Bollywood star Shilpa Shetty Kundra celebrating with her husband, Raj Kundra, in a heartwarming display of love and tradition. The actress, known for her devotion to the festival, observed the fast for the well-being and longevity of her husband, Raj Kundra.
Karwa Chauth is a widely celebrated festival in North India where married women fast from sunrise to moonrise, praying for the health and long life of their husbands. The fast is broken after sighting the moon and performing certain rituals.
Shilpa Shetty, a prominent figure in Bollywood, embraced the festive spirit with fervor. The celebrations commenced with Shilpa sharing a glimpse of her minimalist mehendi design on social media, setting an elegant tone for the day. The mehendi, a traditional art form using henna, is an integral part of Karwa Chauth, symbolizing love and commitment.
Later in the evening, Shilpa Shetty was spotted at Anil and Sunita Kapoor's residence, a popular hub for Bollywood's Karwa Chauth festivities. Several other leading ladies of Bollywood, including Raveena Tandon, Mira Rajput, and Geeta Basra, were also in attendance, adding glamour to the traditional celebrations.
After the moonrise, Shilpa was seen performing the customary aarti with her husband, Raj Kundra. In a video circulating on social media, Shilpa, adorned in a gorgeous red ethnic ensemble with heavy jewelry, a matching chooda, and a stylish potli bag, is seen holding a puja thali and performing Raj's aarti.
Raj Kundra also shared glimpses of their Karwa Chauth celebration on his Instagram handle. He posted a picture of them observing the moon together, with a heartfelt caption dedicated to Shilpa: "The moon may rise tonight, but my world already shines brighter because of you," followed by moon and heart emoticons.
Notably, Raj Kundra has also been observing the Karwa Chauth fast for Shilpa for many years. In 2024, he shared a picture on Instagram, expressing his love and support for Shilpa, stating, “Fasting for the one who fills my life with love, laughter, and unconditional support. 15 years strong.". This act breaks the stereotype of only wives fasting and highlights the couple's mutual love and respect.
Other Bollywood couples like Virat Kohli and Anushka Sharma, Ayushmann Khurrana and Tahira Kashyap, and Ranveer Singh and Deepika Padukone have also participated in the Karwa Chauth fast, showcasing the evolving dynamics of love and equality in modern relationships.
The Karwa Chauth 2025 celebrations beautifully blended tradition and style, devotion and glamour. Shilpa Shetty's elegant red Anarkali, Raveena Tandon's vibrant mustard saree, and Mira Rajput's minimalist red saree were among the highlights, showcasing the perfect blend of traditional attire with contemporary style.
