Trump Praises Modi at Gaza Summit: India's Greatness Highlighted Amidst Peace Efforts and Friendship.

At the Sharm el-Sheikh Summit in Egypt on Monday, U.S. President Donald Trump lauded India as a "great country" and praised Prime Minister Narendra Modi as a "very good friend". Trump's remarks came after a historic peace agreement was signed to end the Israel-Hamas war in Gaza.

"India is a great country with a very good friend of mine at the top, and he has just done a fantastic job," Trump said during his speech. He also expressed optimism about relations between India and Pakistan, saying, "I think that Pakistan and India are going to live very nicely together".

The summit, co-hosted by Trump and Egyptian President Abdel Fattah Al-Sisi, gathered world leaders to discuss the Gaza ceasefire and strategies for building lasting peace. Minister of State for External Affairs Kirti Vardhan Singh attended as a special representative of Prime Minister Modi.

Following the finalization of the Gaza peace plan, Modi congratulated Trump in a phone call. The two leaders also discussed advancements in trade negotiations and agreed to maintain close contact. Modi posted on X, "Spoke to my friend, President Trump and congratulated him on the success of the historic Gaza peace plan. Also reviewed the good progress achieved in trade negotiations. Agreed to stay in close touch over the coming weeks".

In addition to praising India, Trump invited Pakistan's Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif to address the gathering. Interrupting his own speech, Trump asked Sharif, "Do you want to say something?" and encouraged him to "say what you said to me the other day". Sharif praised Trump's role in the peace process, calling him "a man of peace". Sharif added, "I would say this is one of the greatest days in contemporary history, because peace has been achieved after untiring efforts. Efforts led by President Trump, who is genuinely a man of peace who had relentlessly and untiringly worked throughout these months, day in and day out, to make this world a place to live in peace and prosperity".

Trump briefly visited Israel, calling his trip "very special" and expressing confidence that the ceasefire would hold. He met with families of hostages, visited the Knesset, and held talks with Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu.

Trump addressed the Knesset, stating that the Gaza peace deal would not have been possible with a nuclear Iran. He also said that Netanyahu frequently requested military assistance during his presidency.

Prior to the summit, Modi welcomed the release of all remaining Israeli hostages by Hamas, stating that India supports Trump's efforts to bring peace to the region. Modi said on X, "We welcome the release of all hostages after over two years of captivity. Their freedom stands as a tribute to the courage of their families, the unwavering peace efforts of President Trump and the strong resolve of Prime Minister Netanyahu. We support President Trump's sincere efforts to bring peace to the region".

According to the spokesperson of the Egypt Presidency, the summit aimed to end the war in the Gaza Strip, strengthen efforts to establish peace and stability in the Middle East, and open a new page of regional security and stability.
