Kareena Kapoor Khan Shares Heartfelt Message on Sunjay Kapur’s Birth Anniversary
In a touching tribute, Kareena Kapoor Khan has shared an emotional note dedicated to Samaira and Kiaan, the children of the late Sunjay Kapur and Karisma Kapoor, on what would have been Sunjay's 54th birthday. Sunjay Kapur, a prominent Indian industrialist and the ex-husband of actress Karisma Kapoor, passed away on June 12, 2025, in London due to a heart attack following a polo match.
Karisma Kapoor marked the day by sharing a picture of a birthday cake on her Instagram Story, simply captioned with "Happy Birthday Dad". Kareena reshared the image, adding her own heartfelt message: "My Samu and Kiu dad is protecting you always and forever," accompanied by a heart emoji.
Sunjay Kapur was born on October 15, 1971, and was the Chairman of Sona Comstar, an automotive component manufacturer. He also served as the chairperson of the Automotive Component Manufacturers Association (ACMA). His personal life included marriages to Nandita Mahtani, Karisma Kapoor, and Priya Sachdev. He had two children, Samaira and Kiaan, with Karisma Kapoor, and a son, Azarius, with Priya Sachdev.
The bond between Kareena Kapoor and her niece and nephew, Samaira and Kiaan, has always been evident. Following Sunjay’s death, Kareena was seen alongside Karisma and Saif Ali Khan, providing support to Samaira and Kiaan as they attended Sunjay’s funeral.
Sunjay Kapur's death has triggered a legal battle over his estate, estimated to be worth ₹30,000 crore. Samaira and Kiaan have filed a suit against Sunjay's widow, Priya Sachdev, alleging that she forged Sunjay's will. They claim that the will excludes them from their rightful inheritance. The Delhi High Court is currently hearing the case. Senior advocate Mahesh Jethmalani, representing Samaira and Kiaan, has pointed out "glaring errors" in the will, including grammatical mistakes and the use of feminine pronouns, questioning its authenticity. Priya Sachdev's lawyer, Rajiv Nayar, has argued that there is no valid legal challenge to the will.
Amidst the legal proceedings, the family is also grappling with the emotional impact of Sunjay Kapur's passing. Priya Sachdev also shared a video montage on Instagram, featuring moments with Sunjay and their blended family, including Samaira and Kiaan.
