Ghaziabad, October 26, 2025 - President Droupadi Murmu inaugurated Yashoda Medicity in Indirapuram, Ghaziabad, Uttar Pradesh, emphasizing that healthcare is integral to national development and that no citizen should be deprived of effective medical services. Speaking at the event, she underscored the importance of quality and inclusive healthcare for all, calling for collaborative efforts between the government and the private sector to achieve this goal.
Addressing the gathering, which included Defence Minister Rajnath Singh, Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath, and Union Minister of State for Health Anupriya Patel, President Murmu stated that medical professionals, by serving in the field of healthcare, are also serving the nation. She expressed her appreciation for the commitment of healthcare providers and acknowledged Yashoda Hospital's dedication to aligning with national health priorities.
The President highlighted the continuous strengthening of India's healthcare infrastructure, institutions, and services to ensure access to quality medical care for every citizen, which she emphasized as essential for building a healthy and developed India. She noted that protecting people from disease and improving their health is a top priority for the government, which is why health and medical infrastructure are being continuously expanded across the country.
President Murmu emphasized the invaluable contribution that good private healthcare institutions can make in achieving national health goals. She expressed confidence that Yashoda Medicity would bring transformative changes to the healthcare sector and serve as a model of quality and affordable medical care. The President also lauded Yashoda Hospital's efforts during the COVID-19 pandemic, during which the hospital treated a large number of patients and supported government health initiatives such as the National TB Elimination Programme. Notably, Yashoda Medicity is the first center in North India to be recognized under the System for TB Elimination in the Private Sector (STEPS) initiative.
During her address, President Murmu urged Yashoda Medicity to extend its participation in national campaigns for the eradication of sickle cell anemia and to promote medical research, especially in the treatment of cancer, through collaborations with other institutions like IIT-Bombay to adopt indigenous technologies such as gene therapy for cancer treatment. She also stressed that healthcare institutions should view social responsibility as equally important as medical responsibility. She voiced that Yashoda Medicity's mission to provide "affordable world-class healthcare services to all" reflects this spirit.
President Murmu toured the 1,200-bed hospital, which will launch centers of excellence in cardiology, neurosciences, oncology, organ transplants, and mother and child care, and commended its modern facilities, noting that it houses all diagnostics and treatment facilities under one roof, saving patients valuable time. She also expressed hope that the institution would give special emphasis on medical research with the spirit of Swadeshi.
Concluding her address, President Murmu expressed confidence that through strong cooperation between the private and public sectors, India would continue to enhance its reputation as a global destination for quality healthcare. She praised the hospital's commitment to patient care and research, its modern healthcare infrastructure, and its deep sense of public service. Dr. Arora, the chairman of Yashoda Medicity, stated that the hospital is equipped with state-of-the-art technology, experienced doctors, and trained staff, and that it will be a symbol of patient-centered care and health awareness, aiming not only to treat diseases but also to promote health education in society.
