Amazon's Indian Ecommerce Exports Exceed $20 Billion; Aims for Ambitious $80 Billion Target by 2030

Amazon has announced that it has surpassed $20 billion in cumulative e-commerce exports from India, achieving this milestone ahead of its projected 2025 target. The company is now setting its sights on a new goal: $80 billion in e-commerce exports by 2030.

The Amazon Global Selling program, launched in 2015, has been instrumental in enabling Indian Micro, Small, and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs) and entrepreneurs to build global brands. This program provides access to millions of customers across Amazon's numerous international marketplaces. Through technological solutions, strategic partnerships, and various business initiatives, Amazon simplifies cross-border selling, addressing key aspects such as logistics, compliance, and payments.

As of 2025, the program has enlisted over 200,000 exporters who offer more than 750 million "Made in India" products. Amazon's total seller base has grown by over 33% in the past year. Categories such as health and personal care, beauty, toys, home products, apparel and furniture have seen the highest compound annual growth rate (CAGR) over the past 10 years.

Srinidhi Kalvapudi, Head of Amazon Global Selling India, stated that this achievement reflects the ambition of Indian businesses and the increasing role of e-commerce exports in global trade. Kalvapudi further emphasized the company's commitment to simplifying global selling through technological innovation, capacity building, and ecosystem partnerships. Amazon aims to align with the Indian government's objective of reaching $200-$300 billion in overall exports by 2030.

The United States and the European Union are currently the top markets for Indian products sold through Amazon’s global program. Other key markets include Germany, Canada, the United Arab Emirates, France, Italy, Spain, and Saudi Arabia. Products like cotton-based home textiles, ayurvedic personal care items, skincare, oral care, educational toys, and direct-to-consumer (D2C) consumer innovations are gaining traction.

Amazon is also collaborating with the Directorate General of Foreign Trade (DGFT) to further boost MSME exports through the "Districts as Export Hubs" initiative. This initiative aims to connect locally produced goods with global markets.

Amazon has made substantial investments in India's logistics and digital infrastructure. The company has digitized over 12 million MSMEs, exceeding its initial targets. In 2025, Amazon announced a ₹20 billion (US$227 million) investment to expand and modernize its fulfillment ecosystem. This is part of a broader US$26 billion commitment in India by 2030. Amazon has also expanded its Multi-Channel Fulfillment (MCF) service, enabling sellers to fulfill orders from other platforms using Amazon's logistics network.

In addition to its export initiatives, Amazon is expanding its operations within India. This includes a pilot project for a 15-minute delivery service in Bengaluru, marking its entry into the quick commerce space. Amazon has also launched 'Amazon Freight' for transportation and 'Amazon Shipping' for last-mile delivery services, covering over 14,000 pin codes across India. Furthermore, the company has increased its commitment to the Smbhav Venture Fund to $350 million to support startups focused on domestic manufacturing.
