Samsung Galaxy AI Expands Language Support: Embracing India with Gujarati, Hindi, and 20 More Regional Tongues.

Samsung is expanding the reach of its Galaxy AI by adding support for Gujarati and Filipino languages, bringing the total number of supported languages to 22. The rollout of the update began on October 29, 2025. This move reinforces Samsung's commitment to breaking down language barriers and making AI-powered mobile experiences accessible to a wider global audience.

With the addition of Gujarati and Filipino, Galaxy AI now supports languages spoken by approximately 74% of the global population, or roughly 5.9 billion people. Gujarati is spoken primarily by citizens of the Indian state of Gujarat, with an estimated 62.5 million speakers. Filipino is used daily by an estimated 87 million people and is the national language of the Philippines.

"The addition of Gujarati to Galaxy AI is a significant milestone in our mission to democratize AI in India, which has a diverse linguistic landscape," said Giridhar Jakki, Senior Director and Head of Language AI Team at Samsung R&D Institute India, Bengaluru. "By adding Gujarati to our spectrum, we are enabling the native speakers to seamlessly use popular Galaxy AI features such as Call Assist and Interpreter," Jakki added.

The Gujarati and Filipino language packs were developed in collaboration with Samsung Research centers in India and Indonesia. This collaboration ensures that the AI accurately captures the nuances and unique characteristics of each language. Samsung also collaborated with the Vellore Institute of Technology to incorporate Hindi into Galaxy AI.

Galaxy AI features a suite of intelligent tools designed to make communication and productivity more accessible and intuitive. These features include:

  • Live Translate: Provides real-time, two-way voice and text translation for calls, making cross-language conversations seamless.
  • Interpreter: Instantly translates in-person conversations via a split-screen view, ideal for travel or dining abroad.
  • Chat Assist: Fine-tunes messages for any situation, offering tone suggestions to ensure the right message is conveyed.
  • Note Assist: Auto-generates summaries and formatted templates to streamline daily tasks and projects.
  • Transcript Assist: Transcribes, summarizes, and translates voice recordings from meetings, lectures, or brainstorming sessions.
  • Browsing Assist: condenses news articles and web pages into short summaries for quick reading.

Samsung is committed to expanding Galaxy AI to over 400 million devices by the end of 2025. The company reached 200 million devices in 2024. Galaxy AI has quickly become an integral part of daily routines for millions of users around the world. Approximately 91% of Galaxy S25 users in India actively use Galaxy AI. Globally, over 70% of S25 owners regularly engage with AI and Gemini features, with 47% relying on AI daily.

The new language packs are available for download via the Settings app on compatible Galaxy devices. This update allows users in more regions to use Galaxy AI's communication and productivity features in their preferred language.
