Bihar Polls Heat Up: Tej Pratap Yadav and Ravi Kishan's Airport Encounter Ignites Political Speculation.

A chance encounter between Tej Pratap Yadav, the founder of Janshakti Janata Dal (JJD) and son of Lalu Prasad Yadav, and BJP MP Ravi Kishan at Patna airport on Friday, November 7, 2025, has stirred considerable political buzz amidst the ongoing Bihar Assembly elections. The meeting, described as a first-time interaction by Tej Pratap himself, has fueled speculation about potential post-poll alliances and realignments in the state.

Both leaders were exiting the airport after separate campaign activities when they were approached by journalists. Tej Pratap had been campaigning in Gaya for JJD candidates, while Ravi Kishan was addressing rallies in East Champaran and West Champaran. The unexpected meeting of the two leaders prompted immediate questions about possible political implications, especially given Tej Pratap's recent departure from the Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD) and his formation of a new political outfit.

Tej Pratap downplayed the political optics of the meeting, emphasizing their shared devotion to Lord Shiva. "It is just that I am meeting Ravi Kishan for the first time. Of course, he and I are on the same page when it comes to our devotion to Lord Shiva. Both of us wear the 'tika' on our foreheads," he stated. However, when questioned about the possibility of aligning with the BJP, Tej Pratap offered a cryptic response, saying, "I will be with anyone who removes unemployment". He also reiterated that he would support whichever coalition forms the next government in Bihar, but with conditions.

Ravi Kishan also acknowledged their shared religious beliefs, stating that the BJP's doors are open to all devotees of Lord Shiva. "It is his heart that is earning people's praise," Kishan said, deflecting questions about Tej Pratap's expulsion from the RJD. He further added, "BJP and Prime Minister Narendra Modi keep doors open for all devotees of Bholenath, who are devoted to selfless service and not in politics because of a personal agenda". When pressed for comments on Yadav's expulsion from RJD, Kishan said, "Now, do not ask me such questions. These are election times. Rest assured, though, that the people of Bihar are wise enough to discern right from wrong". He also lauded Tej Pratap as a good-hearted person and a devotee of Lord Shiva.

The meeting has triggered intense speculation within political circles in Patna, with many wondering if Janshakti Janata Dal could potentially side with the NDA if it secures enough seats to form the government. Tej Pratap, who is contesting the Bihar polls independently from the Mahua Assembly constituency in Vaishali, has been critical of the RJD leadership in the past. His willingness to align with any party that addresses unemployment has further fueled the rumors of a possible shift in political allegiance after the election results.
