Bihar Results LIVE: Mayawati's Party Candidate Wins Ramgarh Seat In Bihar By 30 Votes

In a nail-biting finish to the Bihar Assembly elections, the Bahujan Samaj Party (BSP) has secured a victory in the Ramgarh constituency. Satish Kumar Singh Yadav of the BSP won the seat by a margin of just 30 votes, defeating Ashok Kumar Singh of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP). The Ramgarh Assembly constituency has a history of close contests, with the 2020 election being decided by a mere 189 votes.

Satish Kumar Singh Yadav of the BSP secured 72,689 votes, while Ashok Kumar Singh of the BJP garnered 72,659 votes. Ajit Kumar of the Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD) trailed behind with 41,480 votes. Anand Kumar Singh of the Jan Suraaj Party (JSP) received 4,426 votes.

The victory of the BSP candidate in Ramgarh is significant, as the party does not typically dominate headlines in Bihar. This win places the BSP ahead of parties like the Jan Suraaj Party, led by Prashant Kishor, in terms of performance in this election. While the Nitish Kumar-Narendra Modi alliance of the NDA appears to be securing a majority in the state, the BSP's success in Ramgarh highlights the complexities of Bihar's political landscape.

The Ramgarh constituency, established in 1951, is located in the Kaimur district and falls under the Buxar Lok Sabha constituency. The constituency has a diverse electorate comprising Scheduled Castes (~23.23%), Scheduled Tribes (~0.79%), Extremely Backward Classes (~36.01%), Other Backward Classes (~27.12%), General (~15.52%), and Muslims (~6.86%). This mix makes caste coalitions, candidate appeal, and local issues important factors in determining election outcomes.

In the 2020 Assembly elections, Sudhakar Singh of the RJD won the Ramgarh seat, defeating Ambika Singh of the BSP by 189 votes. In the 2015 elections, Ashok Kumar Singh of the BJP won the seat. The Ramgarh seat has seen varied representation over the years, with the RJD winning six times, the Congress four times, socialist parties three times, and the BJP and JD(U) two times each.

The 2025 Lok Sabha elections saw Sudhakar Singh of the RJD win the Buxar Lok Sabha (MP) seat by defeating Mithilesh Tiwari of the BJP. The Ramgarh Assembly constituency recorded a voter turnout of 67.84% in the current election.
