Disha Patani's Father Gets Weapons License After Shooting Incident Near Bareilly Home: A Safety Measure

The Bareilly district administration has granted a weapons license to Jagdish Patani, father of Bollywood actress Disha Patani, following a firing incident that occurred outside their ancestral residence in Bareilly. The license was issued after Jagdish Patani, a retired Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP), applied for it following the September 12, 2025, attack on his home in the Civil Lines area.

According to officials, two unidentified assailants on a motorcycle fired approximately 10 rounds outside the Patani residence on September 12. A case was registered at the Kotwali police station in connection with the incident. The suspects, later identified as Ravindra and Arun, were killed in an encounter on September 17 in Ghaziabad by a joint team comprising the Uttar Pradesh Special Task Force (STF), Haryana STF, and the Delhi unit.

Following the attack, Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath assured Jagdish Patani of full security support. Bareilly District Magistrate Avnish Singh stated that Patani had applied for the weapons license after the firing incident, and it was granted after all necessary legal formalities were completed. The license permits him to possess a revolver or pistol.

Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Bareilly, Anurag Arya, confirmed that security arrangements at Jagdish Patani's residence would remain in place.

In the wake of the September firing, Jagdish Patani spoke out, suggesting the incident was a conspiracy to demean his family after claims that his elder daughter, Khushboo Patani, had insulted Hindu saints. He stated that her words had been misrepresented and wrongly linked to spiritual leaders Premanand Maharaj and Aniruddhacharya Maharaj.

Khushboo Patani had criticized Aniruddhacharya for his remarks about women, which sparked mixed reactions online, and subsequently faced online trolling.

While investigations into the firing incident continue, initial reports suggested that the Goldy Brar group claimed responsibility, also warning of further threats to the Patani family and the film industry. The case has now been handed over to the Crime Branch.
