India and Georgia Deepen Ties at 8th Foreign Office Consultations
Tbilisi, Georgia – India and Georgia convened for the 8th Foreign Office Consultations (FOC) in Tbilisi on December 13, 2025, marking a significant step in strengthening bilateral relations and discussing matters of regional and global importance. The Indian delegation was led by Shri Sibi George, Secretary (West) at the Ministry of External Affairs, while the Georgian side was headed by Deputy Foreign Minister Alexander Khvitisiashvili.
During the consultations, both nations engaged in comprehensive discussions, reviewing the entire spectrum of their bilateral relationship. This included political engagement, trade and economic cooperation, cultural exchanges, and enhanced people-to-people connections. The discussions aimed to identify new avenues for collaboration and to explore opportunities for sharing experiences and cooperating within international organizations.
Both sides expressed their commitment to maintaining regular official exchanges to consolidate cooperation and explore new areas of partnership, further solidifying the strategic relationship between India and Georgia. They also exchanged views on regional and global issues of mutual interest.

The consultations also addressed the exchange of high-level visits, increased cooperation between parliaments and sectoral agencies, the implementation of joint projects, and the engagement of the business community, with emphasis placed on the importance of reciprocal visits. Detailed information was exchanged on current regional and international issues, including developments and challenges in the South Caucasus, the Black Sea region, South Asia, and the Indian Ocean region.
Both sides agreed to maintain a regular dialogue to further strengthen bilateral and regional cooperation. This commitment underscores the importance both countries place on their relationship and their desire to work together on shared interests. The discussions also acknowledged the historical and cultural links between India and Georgia.
