Rewari, Haryana: Dense fog has triggered a series of major road accidents across Haryana and the Delhi-NCR region, causing vehicle pile-ups and injuries on Sunday, December 14, 2025. Reduced visibility due to the heavy fog led to multiple vehicle collisions on major highways.
One of the most significant incidents occurred on National Highway 352D in Haryana's Rewari district. In the early morning hours, three to four buses traveling towards Jhajjar collided with each other due to the drastically reduced visibility. Several passengers sustained injuries and were immediately transported to nearby hospitals. Authorities are still assessing the exact number of injured.
Police teams promptly arrived at the scene to investigate the accident. Preliminary findings indicate that the heavy fog was the primary cause of the collision. However, a detailed inquiry is underway to determine the full sequence of events.
Another fog-related accident was reported on National Highway 91 in Greater Noida, involving approximately half a dozen vehicles. While several vehicles sustained damage and a few individuals suffered minor injuries, no fatalities were reported. The accident caused a temporary traffic slowdown, which was resolved after cranes were used to remove the damaged vehicles.
Earlier in the day, a large pile-up involving nearly a dozen vehicles occurred on the Eastern Peripheral Expressway at the Samadhipur flyover, with additional collisions reported near the Chakrasenpur flyover. Multiple people were injured and received medical treatment.
Hisar district also experienced a major pile-up on National Highway 52 near Dhiktana Moda, where a roadways bus collided with a dumper truck. Subsequently, a second bus, a car, and a motorcycle crashed into the vehicles ahead.
In response to these incidents, authorities are urging drivers to exercise extreme caution when driving in foggy conditions. They recommend reducing speed, increasing following distance, and using fog lights to enhance visibility. The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued an advisory for dense fog in the region, warning of continued poor visibility in the coming days.
