CLAT 2026 witnessed a remarkable turnout, record-breaking scores, and exceptional performance from candidates hailing from urban centers. The Common Law Admission Test (CLAT) 2026, conducted on December 7, 2025, saw a substantial 17% increase in applications compared to the previous year, with a total of 92,344 candidates registering for the exam. This surge underscores the growing interest and aspiration among students to secure admissions into top National Law Universities (NLUs) across the country.
Out of the total registrations, 75,009 candidates applied for undergraduate (UG) programs, while 17,335 candidates aimed for postgraduate (PG) programs. The exam was conducted across 156 centers, spanning 25 states and 4 Union Territories, ensuring accessibility for students from diverse geographical locations.
The Consortium of National Law Universities (CNLU) ensured a fair and inclusive environment for all participants. A dedicated nodal officer was appointed to provide personalized attention and support to 548 candidates belonging to the Persons with Disabilities (PwD) category.
The turnout for CLAT 2026 was exceptionally high, with 96.83% of UG registrants and 92.45% of PG registrants appearing for the exam. This strong participation highlights the significance candidates attach to this national-level law entrance examination. The CNLU attributed the smooth and fair conduct of the examination to the collaborative efforts of center superintendents, invigilators, district administrations, participating institutions, and law-enforcement agencies.
The gender ratio among applicants stood at approximately 0.72 male to 1 female.
Indicating a commitment to transparency, the Consortium released the provisional answer key on December 10, 2025, allowing candidates to raise objections through a designated portal until December 12, 2025. The final results, incorporating revisions based on valid objections, are expected to be declared on or before December 17, 2025.
CLAT 2026 saw impressive scores, with the highest scores being 112.75 out of 119 for UG and 104.25 out of 119 for PG.
