Singapore Police Investigate Zubeen Garg's Death: Initial Findings Suggest No Suspicious Circumstances, Investigation Continues.

Singapore police are continuing their investigation into the death of Assamese singer Zubeen Garg, who died in Singapore on September 19. Garg, 52, was in the country to attend the North East India Festival.

In a statement released on Thursday, December 18, 2025, the Singapore Police Force (SPF) addressed online speculation surrounding the circumstances of Garg's death. The SPF refuted claims that four men had been charged with murder in connection to the case. While investigations are ongoing, the SPF stated that they do not currently suspect foul play.

The police are aware that Indian media outlets have reported that a Special Investigation Team in India has charged four individuals with Garg's murder. Reports indicate those charged include Garg's co-singer, bandmate, manager, and the festival organizer.

The SPF has stated that its investigation is being conducted in accordance with the Singapore Coroners Act 2010. Upon completion of the investigation, the findings will be submitted to the State Coroner in Singapore. A Coroner's Inquiry (CI) is scheduled for January and February 2026. The CI is a fact-finding process led by the Coroner to establish the cause and circumstances of Garg's death, and the findings will be made public after the conclusion of the inquiry.

The Singapore police have asked the public to avoid speculating and spreading unverified information while the investigation is ongoing. They have also expressed their commitment to conducting a thorough and professional investigation and seek the patience and understanding of all parties involved.
