The film is now one of 15 films in contention for a final nomination in the Best International Feature Film category.

"Homebound," directed by Neeraj Ghaywan, tells the story of childhood friends Shoaib (Ishaan Khatter) and Chandan (Vishal Jethwa) and their shared dreams of joining the police force. Janhvi Kapoor also stars, adding emotional depth to the narrative. The film explores themes of friendship, duty, and the pressures faced by young people in India.

The film's journey has been remarkable, premiering at the Cannes Film Festival and screening at the Toronto International Film Festival. Martin Scorsese has joined the project as an executive producer.

"Homebound" debuted on Netflix on November 21 and has received acclaim at various film festivals and awards. The story revolves around two young migrant workers in Surat during the COVID-19 lockdown in March 2020. It highlights the challenges and inequalities faced by many during that time.

Dharma Movies shared the news of the Oscar shortlist on social media, expressing gratitude for the global support the film has received. The film is produced by Karan Johar, Adar Poonawalla, Apoorva Mehta, and Somen Mishra, with Marijke deSouza and Melita Toscan Du Plantier as co-producers.
