Director Maruthi has made a bold claim regarding his upcoming horror-comedy, "The Raja Saab," starring Prabhas. At the film's pre-release event in Hyderabad on December 27, 2025, Maruthi addressed Prabhas's fans directly, assuring them that the film would not disappoint. He went so far as to say that if the film disappoints even 1%, he would be accountable.
"The Raja Saab" marks a shift for Prabhas, who is known for his larger-than-life action roles, as he steps into the horror-comedy genre. Maruthi has indicated that the "entertaining version" of Prabhas will be on full display, something the pan-Indian audience has yet to witness. He added that Prabhas's performance in the film will be remembered for years to come.
Maruthi has also spoken about Prabhas's unique look, getup, hairstyle, and slang in the film, promising a never-before-seen avatar on the Indian screen. He highlighted the innate swag and detailing Prabhas brought to his character, even in the way he sits and stands.
Prabhas himself has expressed his excitement for the film, particularly praising the climax. He stated he was blown away by the way the climax was designed. He also extended his best wishes to all the Sankranthi releases, including his own.
The film also stars Nidhhi Agerwal, Malavika Mohanan, and Riddhi Kumar in key roles, with Sanjay Dutt appearing as the villain. The music is composed by Thaman S.
"The Raja Saab" is slated for a Sankranthi release on January 9, 2026.
Maruthi became emotional at the pre-release event, sharing that his association with Prabhas began during the time of "Adipurush". He added that he had always wanted to make a good film with Prabhas, which led to the making of "The Raja Saab". He also mentioned that Prabhas's performance deeply moved him and made him emotional, praising the actor for giving his heart and soul to the film.
Previously, there had been some concerns about the film's pre-release business, with reports suggesting that it did not meet expected returns due to the current market slowdown. However, the producer, TG Vishwa Prasad, clarified that the theatrical impact is what truly matters and that the film has secured the highest non-theatrical value available today.
Despite facing delays since filming began in 2022 and initial release date postponement from April 10, 2025, "The Raja Saab" is now set to clash with multiple Telugu and Tamil titles during the Sankranthi festival.
