Malavika Mohanan Praises Prabhas as "Sweetest," Making Her Telugu Debut in "Raja Saab"

Malavika Mohanan is making her Telugu debut in the upcoming romantic horror-comedy The Raja Saab, and she has been sharing her experiences working alongside Prabhas. The film, directed by Maruthi, is slated for release on January 9, 2026, coinciding with Sankranthi.

In a recent interview, Mohanan described Prabhas as "the sweetest" and expressed her excitement about debuting in Telugu cinema with him. She recalled being "completely captivated" by Prabhas's film Baahubali and said it was her "dream" to debut in Telugu with him. Mohanan also mentioned that she had been approached for a role in Salaar, directed by Prashanth Neel, but it "didn't materialize". Shortly after, she received the call for The Raja Saab, making her dream of working with Prabhas a reality.

Mohanan has been filming The Raja Saab for two and a half years. She described the film as a "grand film featuring numerous sets and extensive VFX". According to reports, the film is set against the backdrop of an old cinema theatre. Prabhas will reportedly play dual roles, as both the owner of the theatre and a ghost. Mohanan's role is that of Bhairavi, and her first look in the film shows her in a black saree, wearing sunglasses, and holding a handbag.

Mohanan also shared her initial impressions of Prabhas, noting that she had imagined him to be "very silent and reserved" based on his interviews. However, she discovered that he is a "great conversationalist—super fun and funny". She added that "there is never a dull moment around Darling," referring to Prabhas. Mohanan has also praised Prabhas for his humility and down-to-earth nature, even after the success of Kalki 2898 AD. She stated that his energy on set is "infectious" and that his welcoming nature has made her entry into the Telugu industry "truly special". She said that the entire team has been supportive and that they have shared many laughs on set.

Mohanan also mentioned that Prabhas delights his co-stars by arranging feasts of delicious food on set. She noted that he welcomes everyone with a "bang" and feeds them lots of biryani, also sending food for her entire team. She said that Prabhas is "extremely supportive and makes you feel very comfortable".

The Raja Saab is a romantic horror-comedy written and directed by Maruthi, and produced by People Media Factory and IVY Entertainment. The film stars Prabhas, Sanjay Dutt, Nidhhi Agerwal, Malavika Mohanan, and Riddhi Kumar. The film's music is composed by Thaman S, with cinematography by Karthik Palani and editing by Kotagiri Venkateswara Rao.
