The popular Indian sitcom Taarak Mehta Ka Ooltah Chashmah (TMKOC) is expanding its universe with the launch of two feature-length 3D animated films. This move signifies a major step in the franchise's digital growth strategy. The animated films will be available on YouTube.
The first film, Taarak Mehta Ka Ooltah Chashmah 3D Animated Movie: Gokuldham to Galacto, was released on December 31, 2025. The second film, Taarak Mehta Ka Ooltah Chashmah 3D Animated Movie: The Big Fat Alien Wedding, is scheduled to be released on January 26, 2026.
Both films will be available in six languages: Hindi, Bengali, Tamil, Telugu, Kannada, and Malayalam. This multilingual release aims to broaden the franchise's reach across different regions and age groups.
Asit Kumarr Modi, founder of Neela Mediatech and producer of the franchise, emphasized the importance of family and relatable stories in TMKOC's success. He stated that animation allows them to carry that intent forward for children growing up on digital platforms, ensuring the show's emotional meaning resonates across generations.
Over the past three years, TMKOC has expanded its presence as a multi-format digital franchise, including gaming, gamified education, and animation. Neela Mediatech's entry into long-form animation builds upon the positive response to the franchise's animated rhymes and short-form content online. The company is targeting sustained digital engagement, repeat viewership, and platform-driven growth on YouTube.
Taarak Mehta Ka Ooltah Chashmah, which premiered on Sony SAB in 2008 and is currently available on SonyLIV, is one of India's longest-running television series. The show is set in Mumbai and revolves around the residents of Gokuldham Co-operative Housing Society, showcasing the diversity of urban India through its characters. The animated films will introduce familiar TMKOC characters in new narrative settings while maintaining the humor and community-centric storytelling that has been a hallmark of the franchise.
Prior to these films, an animated series titled Taarak Mehta Kka Chhota Chashmah has aired on Sony YAY! since April 19, 2021, and is also available on Netflix.
