Ahan Shetty recently shared a photo with his father, Suniel Shetty, capturing what he described as a "full circle" moment, coinciding with the release of the song "Ghar Kab Aaoge" from the upcoming film Border 2. The image and Ahan's heartfelt reflection highlight the generational connection to the Border franchise, as Suniel Shetty starred in the original 1997 film, Border, which featured the iconic song "Sandese Aate Hain". The new track, "Ghar Kab Aaoge," is a reworked version of "Sandese Aate Hain".
Ahan expressed that growing up, he watched his father in "Sandese Aate Hain," making his own association with "Ghar Kab Aaoge" a significant and deeply personal milestone. Border 2 sees Sunny Deol returning to the franchise as the leading man, with Ahan Shetty joining the cast as one of the new recruits. He will be playing Indian Navy officer Lt Cdr Alfred Noronha. Reports suggest Ahan's character will have connections to Suniel Shetty's role from the original Border, further emphasizing the generational link within the film's narrative.
The original song "Sandese Aate Hain," sung by Sonu Nigam and Roop Kumar Rathod, became synonymous with themes of separation, longing, and patriotism. The retitling of the song to "Ghar Kab Aaoge" is intended to emphasize the personal cost of duty and the emotional bond between soldiers and their families.
Border 2 boasts an ensemble cast including Sunny Deol, Varun Dhawan, Diljit Dosanjh, and Ahan Shetty. Mona Singh, Sonam Bajwa, Anya Singh, and Medha Rana also star in pivotal roles as the wives of the officers, adding an emotional domestic layer to the war narrative. The film is directed by Anurag Singh and produced by Bhushan Kumar, Krishan Kumar, J. P. Dutta, and Nidhi Dutta.
The music for Border 2 features contributions from several composers. Anu Malik, the composer of the original "Sandese Aate Hain," initially raised concerns about credit for the new track but later clarified that Bhushan Kumar had ensured he was properly credited. Mithoon has recreated "Ghar Kab Aaoge," with additional lyrics by Manoj Muntashir. Other musicians involved in the film's soundtrack include Vishal Mishra, Sachet–Parampara, and Gurmoh, with lyrics by Javed Akhtar, Kumaar, and Kausar Munir.
Border 2 is scheduled for release on January 23, 2026, coinciding with India's Republic Day weekend. The first poster and release date were revealed on India's Independence Day, with the tagline "Hindustan ke liye ladenge... phir ek baar!".
