Sonu Nigam Revisits "Ghar Kab Aaoge" for Border 2: A Song of Homecoming and Nostalgia.

In Jaisalmer, near the India-Pakistan border, singer Sonu Nigam expressed that being a part of "Border 2's" "Ghar Kab Aaoge" felt like a beautiful homecoming. The song, a recreation of the iconic "Sandese Aate Hain" from the 1997 film "Border," was launched in the presence of Border Security Force (BSF) soldiers.

Nigam, who also sang the original track, described the event as an "emotional day". Speaking to the media, he reflected on the significance of performing the song again, nearly three decades after its initial release. "It is an emotional day because we will be singing the song today, which we sang 30 years ago," Nigam said.

The launch event was attended by the cast and crew of "Border 2," including Bhushan Kumar, Varun Dhawan, Ahan Shetty, and producer Nidhi Dutta. Sunny Deol, the lead actor, was also present. A large number of BSF officers and personnel were present at the promotional event, including Inspector General of BSF Rajasthan Frontier ML Garg, DIG of BSF Sector North Jatinder Singh Binji, and Commandant of BSF 20 Battalion Neeraj Sharma.

"Ghar Kab Aaoge" features vocals by Sonu Nigam, Arijit Singh, Vishal Mishra, and Diljit Dosanjh. The music for "Border 2" is composed by Anu Malik and Mithoon, with lyrics by Javed Akhtar and Manoj Muntashir Shukla. While the new version blends nostalgia with a contemporary sound, some listeners have expressed mixed reviews, with some feeling that it doesn't surpass the original. Some social media users commented that Vishal Mishra and Arijit Singh's voices did not suit the song, while others appreciated Sonu Nigam and Diljit Dosanjh's vocals.

"Border 2" is directed by Anurag Singh and stars Sunny Deol, Varun Dhawan, Diljit Dosanjh, and Ahan Shetty, along with Mona Singh, Sonam Bajwa, Anya Singh, and Medha Rana. The film is a sequel to the 1997 hit war movie "Border," which was inspired by the real events of the Battle of Longewala during the 1971 war. "Border 2" is scheduled to be released on January 23, 2026, coinciding with the Republic Day weekend. The film carries the tagline "Hindustan ke liye ladenge… phir ek baar!".
