Network18 and CNN International have renewed their partnership for CNN-News18, extending their brand and content licensing agreement for another 10 years, until December 31, 2035. The collaboration, which began in 2005 and was renewed in 2015, will enter its third decade, with a deepened focus on expanding CNN-News18's digital presence to reach global audiences.
The renewed agreement aims to enhance the channel's digital footprint on platforms like YouTube and Connected TV (CTV), broadening its reach in international markets. This strategic move reflects a commitment to adapt to changing media consumption habits and cater to a wider audience base.
Rahul Joshi, Managing Director and Editor-in-Chief of Network18 Group, emphasized the importance of the renewed partnership, describing it as a "landmark, one-of-a-kind collaboration in global news". He noted that the long-standing TV news partnership would now pave the way for new growth opportunities, including a stronger presence on digital and connected TV platforms.
Phil Nelson, Executive Vice President, CNN International Commercial, stated that affiliate partnerships remain central to CNN's model. He expressed his delight in extending the partnership with Network18, highlighting the continuation of the CNN brand licensing and the expansion of one of their largest and most prominent affiliates worldwide.
Network18 has stated that CNN-News18 recently underwent an on-air refresh to improve the viewing experience. The channel's content is now designed to be TV- and digital-ready, facilitating seamless distribution across broadcast, digital platforms, and connected TV.
The partnership's significance is amplified by the increasing impact of global events on audiences across markets. CNN's international presence, combined with Network18's extensive reach in India, strengthens the channel's position as a key source for current affairs across various platforms. The collaboration aims to provide viewers with comprehensive and up-to-date news coverage, leveraging the strengths of both organizations to deliver high-quality content.
