The demand for a CBI investigation resurfaced after a video posted on social media by Urmila Sanawar, who claims to be the wife of former BJP MLA Suresh Rathore, alluded to the involvement of a "VIP" in the murder. In the video, Sanawar is allegedly heard talking to Rathore on the phone. Ankita's parents also wrote a letter requesting a CBI probe under the supervision of a Supreme Court judge to expose the identity of the alleged VIP.

Chief Minister Dhami stated that the government's objective has been to ensure justice in a fair and transparent manner from the beginning, and this commitment will continue. He acknowledged the immense suffering of Ankita's parents and affirmed that their request for a CBI investigation was being honored. An SIT was formed to verify the audio through Forensic Science Laboratory tests and other methods. Police are also trying to contact the individuals heard in the conversation.
