Ankita Bhandari Case: Uttarakhand Government Approves CBI Investigation into the Tragic Murder.

In a significant development in the Ankita Bhandari murder case, Uttarakhand Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami has approved a probe by the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI). This decision comes in response to demands from Ankita's parents and mounting pressure for a more thorough investigation into the high-profile case.

Ankita Bhandari, a 19-year-old receptionist at the Vanantra Resort in Pauri Garhwal, was murdered in 2022. The resort owner, Pulkit Arya, along with two of his employees, were convicted and sentenced to life imprisonment for the crime. However, the case has seen renewed interest and controversy following allegations of a "VIP" involvement.

The demand for a CBI investigation resurfaced after a video posted on social media by Urmila Sanawar, who claims to be the wife of former BJP MLA Suresh Rathore, alluded to the involvement of a "VIP" in the murder. In the video, Sanawar is allegedly heard talking to Rathore on the phone. Ankita's parents also wrote a letter requesting a CBI probe under the supervision of a Supreme Court judge to expose the identity of the alleged VIP.

Chief Minister Dhami stated that the government's objective has been to ensure justice in a fair and transparent manner from the beginning, and this commitment will continue. He acknowledged the immense suffering of Ankita's parents and affirmed that their request for a CBI investigation was being honored. Dhami had earlier stated his willingness to accept the demand of the parents.

The Chief Minister has said that the government is open to any investigation once the authenticity of the audio is verified. An SIT was formed to verify the audio through Forensic Science Laboratory tests and other methods. Police are also trying to contact the individuals heard in the conversation.

The CBI probe is expected to delve into all aspects of the case, including the alleged involvement of influential figures. The focus will be on ensuring that no fact or evidence is overlooked and that justice is served. The state government has expressed its commitment to providing all necessary assistance to the CBI to facilitate a fair and impartial investigation.

The Ankita Bhandari murder case has sparked public outrage and calls for accountability. The approval of a CBI probe reflects the government's recognition of the need for a thorough and impartial investigation to address the concerns of the victim's family and the wider community.
