The Night Manager Season 2: Hiddleston's Return Delivers a Slow-Burning, Gripping Spy Thriller.

Tom Hiddleston has returned as Jonathan Pine in The Night Manager Season 2, a continuation of the acclaimed spy thriller that picks up nearly a decade after the first season. The new season premiered on January 1, 2026, in the UK on BBC One and BBC iPlayer and January 11, 2026, internationally on Prime Video. Prime Video released the first three episodes on January 11, followed by weekly releases every Sunday, with the season finale on February 1.

Picking up eight years after the explosive finale of season one, Jonathan Pine has been living a quiet life in London under the alias Alex Goodwin, working as a low-level MI6 officer running a surveillance unit. However, his past resurfaces when he recognizes an old mercenary of Roper's, setting off a chain of events that lead him to a violent encounter with Colombian businessman Teddy Dos Santos. Pine then meets Roxana Bolaños, a businesswoman who reluctantly assists him in infiltrating Teddy's arms operation. As Pine races to expose a conspiracy, he must decide who to trust and how far he's willing to go.

Directed by Georgi Banks-Davies and William Oldroyd, Season 2 expands beyond the source material of John le Carré's novel. The season sees Pine haunted by his time with Richard Roper, and explores themes of trust, betrayal, and the lingering impact of the past.

Olivia Colman returns as Angela Burr, though her role is less central than in the first season. New cast members include Diego Calva as Teddy Dos Santos and Camila Morrone as Roxana Bolaños. Hayley Squires also joins the cast as Sally, Jonathan's support team member.

Critics have generally responded positively to the new season. Empire and The Independent both gave it 4 out of 5 stars, praising its fast pace and ability to replicate the formula of the first season. The AV Club calls the season suave, sexy, and smart. TheWrap notes that the new season exceeds its predecessor with confidence and a willingness to flirt with danger and recommends revisiting the first season before watching the second. Roger Ebert highlights the eroticism and character-driven narrative of the season. Some critics have pointed out that the show takes a few episodes to gain momentum, but the end of Episode 3 is a revelation.

Season 3 has already been confirmed.
