Priyanka Chopra's 'The Bluff' Trailer: A gritty pirate thriller promises high seas action and intensity.

Priyanka Chopra Jonas is commanding attention in the newly released trailer for The Bluff, a gritty, R-rated pirate thriller set to premiere on Prime Video on February 25, 2026. The film distinguishes itself from the typical romanticized pirate films, offering a more realistic and brutal portrayal of piracy in the late 19th-century Caribbean.

The trailer introduces Chopra as Ercell Bodden, a former pirate also known as "Bloody Mary", who has traded her violent past for a peaceful family life in the Cayman Islands. However, her past resurfaces when her old crew, led by Captain Connor, portrayed by Karl Urban, invades her island home seeking revenge and a hidden treasure. This sets the stage for a high-stakes confrontation where Ercell must embrace the warrior she once was to protect her family.

Viewers can expect intense action sequences, with Ercell fighting "dirty" using improvised weapons and engaging in visceral battles. The trailer showcases Chopra wielding swords, knives, stones, and her bare hands in fierce combat. This portrayal marks a departure from the stereotypical pirate narratives, focusing instead on survival, power struggles, and raw intensity. Chopra herself stated that the film aims to depict the reality of being a pirate in the 1700s, drawing inspiration from real-life pirates like Grace O'Malley.

Karl Urban joins Chopra as Captain Connor, Ercell's former lover and current crew leader, bringing a menacing edge to the narcissistic buccaneer. The supporting cast includes Ismael Cruz Córdova as Ercell's husband, Safia Oakley-Green as her sister-in-law, and Vedanten Naidoo as their son. Temuera Morrison plays Quartermaster Lee, Captain Connor's second in command.

The Bluff is directed by Frank E. Flowers, who co-wrote the script with Joe Ballarini. The film is produced by the Russo brothers, known for their work on superhero films, alongside Angela Russo-Ostot, Michael Disco, Cisely Saldaña, Mariel Saldaña, and Chopra herself. Zoe Saldaña, who was initially slated to play the lead role, remains on board as an executive producer. The score is composed by Henry Jackman, with cinematography by Greg Baldi.

The film was shot in Australia, with picturesque locations doubling for the Cayman Islands. The Bluff blends family drama with mafia-like pirate intrigue, promising a fresh and brutal spin on the genre. Fans have reacted positively to the trailer, praising Chopra's fierce and powerful portrayal of Ercell.
