Following a successful first season and a strong showing at the 2026 Golden Globes, anticipation is building for the second season of "The Studio," the comedy series created by Seth Rogen and Evan Goldberg. Rogen, along with cast member Ike Barinholtz, have offered some insights into what viewers can expect.

Fresh off winning a Golden Globe for Best Actor in a Television Series – Musical or Comedy for his performance in "The Studio," Seth Rogen revealed that production for the second season is set to begin in a week. Rogen and Goldberg serve as writers, directors, and executive producers for the show. The show premiered on Apple TV+ on March 26, 2025, and was renewed for a second season in May 2025.

Rogen stars as Matt Remick, the head of Continental Studios, navigating the challenges of the film industry. The first season featured Catherine O'Hara, Kathryn Hahn, Ike Barinholtz, and Chase Sui Wonders. It also included cameos from Martin Scorsese, Bryan Cranston, Olivia Wilde, Ron Howard, Steve Buscemi, Greta Lee, Anthony Mackie, Zac Efron, Rebecca Hall, Josh Hutcherson, Dewayne Perkins, Jessica St. Clair, Johnny Knoxville, and Zoe Kravitz.

According to Extra, Rogen joked that Hollywood events now serve as "fact-finding missions" for the series. He teased that Season 2 would feature even bigger star cameos. While Rogen remained tight-lipped about specific names, he hinted at surprises, saying, "people will really uh be like 'Whoa how'd they do that?' And the answer is it was really hard and stressful". Barinholtz humorously added that he would be playing Elon Musk.

Rogen said that they are trying to make the show even bigger and harder to execute for season 2. He added that it would be more stressful, with bigger stars that stress him out more, more famous directors that he fears directing, and scenes in locations that are incredibly hard to navigate.

Rogen also indicated that recent real-life events, including those leading up to the Golden Globes, might be incorporated into the scripts for Season 2. He noted that the Golden Globes ceremony itself felt surreal, given that Episode 8 of Season 1 featured the awards show. Rogen joked after winning his Golden Globe, "I thought the only way I would get to hold one is to create a show to give myself a fake one".

"The Studio" has received critical acclaim, with Collider noting that it has set a new benchmark in the satirical genre by incorporating real-life cameos into a fictional narrative. The series had a record-breaking performance at the Emmy Awards, winning 13 awards and making history as the comedy series with the most wins in a single year. Rogen also tied the record for most Emmys won by an individual in one night.

While an exact return date for Season 2 is unconfirmed, season 1 aired from March to May 2025.
