Recent reports have reignited speculation surrounding "Don 3," the next installment in Farhan Akhtar's popular franchise, particularly regarding the potential return of Shah Rukh Khan to the iconic role. Following Ranveer Singh's reported departure from the project, rumors have circulated suggesting that Shah Rukh Khan might reprise his role as Don, but with a specific condition.

According to TellyChakkar, Shah Rukh Khan is "willing" to return to "Don 3" but wants Atlee, the director of his blockbuster film "Jawan," to be involved. The purported reason behind this condition is to elevate the film's scale and appeal to a wider audience. However, no final decisions have been made, and there has been no official confirmation from the filmmakers or stars involved.

Ranveer Singh was initially cast as the new Don, signaling a generational shift in the franchise. However, reports emerged in December 2025 that he had exited the project. According to Pinkvilla, this decision stemmed from a shift in Singh's career priorities after the success of "Dhurandhar". The actor is reportedly eager to collaborate with directors like Sanjay Leela Bhansali, Lokesh Kanagaraj, and Atlee, and he also wants to avoid being typecast in back-to-back gangster roles, especially since "Dhurandhar" had already solidified his presence in that genre.

The casting changes extend beyond the lead role. Kiara Advani, who was initially slated to play the female lead opposite Ranveer Singh, has also reportedly left the project. Kriti Sanon is rumored to be her replacement, but there has been no official announcement. Furthermore, Vikrant Massey and Vijay Deverakonda reportedly declined offers to play the antagonist, citing a lack of depth in the character.

The "Don" franchise began with Amitabh Bachchan in 1978, with Shah Rukh Khan taking over the role in the modern era with "Don" (2006) and "Don 2" (2011), winning hearts with his portrayal of the suave gangster. The potential return of Shah Rukh Khan has generated excitement among fans, but whether the franchise will move forward with its original reboot plan or revert to its iconic lead remains to be seen.

Other reports are that Rani Mukerji reacts to fans ahead of 'Mardaani 3' release date and 'Dhamaal 4's new release date announced, set for June 2026. Sanjay Leela Bhansali plans two song shoots for 'Love & War' next week. Chiranjeevi's 'Mana Shankara Varaprasad Garu' crosses ₹200 crore worldwide in 4 days.
