Delhi Chief Minister Rekha Gupta inaugurated development projects worth approximately Rs 100 crore in the R.K. Puram Assembly constituency on Sunday. The projects aim to improve infrastructure and enhance community facilities in the area.
The inaugurated projects include road repair and construction, renovation of community centers, modernization of 'chaupals' (traditional community gathering places), beautification of parks, installation of open gym equipment, and construction of boundary walls where needed. The focus is on upgrading existing infrastructure and creating new spaces for community engagement and recreation.
Gupta highlighted the commitment of the Delhi government to ensuring sufficient funds for development works. She stated that the government is dedicated to providing all public representatives with the resources necessary to improve their constituencies.
In addition to the R.K. Puram projects, Chief Minister Gupta also inaugurated three Ayushman Arogya Mandirs (health and wellness centers) in Shalimar Bagh. The new Mandirs are located at WP Block, VP Block (Pitampura), and Haiderpur. Gupta emphasized that these centers will provide access to free and quality healthcare services to residents.
Furthermore, an Atal Canteen was inaugurated at Nehru Camp, near the Haiderpur Badli Mor Metro Station. The Atal Canteen aims to provide affordable meals to the public. Construction work on Meenakshi Temple Road in Shalimar Bagh West (BB Block) was also launched.
These inaugurations follow Gupta's earlier statement on social media, where she mentioned that a shadow had loomed over Delhi's development for the past 11 years but that Prime Minister Narendra Modi has provided new momentum to Delhi's development over the past 11 months.
Rekha Gupta, born on July 19, 1974, has been serving as the Chief Minister of Delhi since February 2025. A member of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), she is the MLA for Shalimar Bagh. Gupta is the fourth woman to hold the office of Chief Minister in Delhi. She previously served as the president of the Delhi University Students' Union. Gupta's administration has recently signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the Reserve Bank of India (RBI) to strengthen financial governance in Delhi.
