Ahmedabad, January 18, 2026 – Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) National Convener Arvind Kejriwal called for a pledge to end hooliganism in Gujarat while addressing a Regional Booth Worker Conference in Ahmedabad on Sunday. Kejriwal, who is on a three-day visit to Gujarat, emphasized the importance of grassroots mobilization and direct engagement with party workers.
Kejriwal's visit includes participation in worker conferences and administering oaths to approximately 20,000 booth-level volunteers in Ahmedabad and Vadodara. The AAP is holding booth worker conferences across seven zones in Gujarat. A conference for the central zone, encompassing the Ahmedabad, Kheda, Gandhinagar, and Surendranagar Lok Sabha constituencies, was held in Ahmedabad on Sunday. An east zone conference is scheduled for Vadodara on Monday, covering Anand, Vadodara, Dahod, Chhota Udepur, and Panchmahal Lok Sabha constituencies.
Kejriwal stated that people are looking towards the Aam Aadmi Party with great hope. He highlighted the significant turnout at AAP rallies and gatherings across Gujarat over the past few months, noting that people are attending these events at their own expense. He added that there was a sense of hopelessness among the people, who were asking that if not BJP, then who? There was no hope from Congress either, but now people are looking towards AAP with hope.
During his address, Kejriwal alleged that as elections approach, agencies like the Enforcement Directorate (ED), Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI), and police become increasingly active. He cautioned that oppression and repression are likely to increase in the coming years. "Gujarat is the land of Sardar Patel and Mahatma Gandhi. Today, we all must take a pledge here to end hooliganism in Gujarat," Kejriwal urged.
AAP MLA Gopal Italia recently accused the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) of obstructing a private event for his party in Gujarat by allegedly threatening the plot owner, which led to the program's cancellation. Italia claimed the BJP is resorting to dictatorial tactics in the state. He said that the BJP pressured the owner not to lend the plot for the program and has resorted to draconian tactics.
Kejriwal's three-day visit underscores the AAP's efforts to strengthen its organizational structure in Gujarat and build political strength at the grassroots level. The party views this as a crucial step in its expansion within the state.
