Chelsea fans traveling to Naples: Exercise extreme caution due to safety concerns and reported incidents.

Chelsea Football Club has urged its travelling supporters to exercise "extreme caution" in Naples following an incident on Tuesday evening that resulted in two fans being hospitalized. The incident occurred on the eve of Chelsea's crucial Champions League match against Napoli at the Stadio Diego Armando Maradona.

The club released a statement confirming their awareness of the incident and stating that the two fans are receiving treatment for non-life-threatening injuries. "The club is aware of an incident that took place on Tuesday evening in Naples," the statement read. "Two fans are being treated in hospital, having sustained non-life-threatening injuries. The club would like to remind all supporters to exercise extreme caution whilst in the city and take note of the advice shared ahead of this fixture."

While details surrounding the incident remain unclear, reports suggest that the fans may have been attacked. One report indicated that the supporters were stabbed while heading to a pub. Another account claimed one of the victims was stabbed after being pursued by approximately 25 Napoli ultras. However, Naples police have not yet commented on the matter.

In light of the incident, Chelsea has issued specific guidance for the estimated 2,500 supporters who have travelled to Naples. The club has strongly encouraged fans to remain in groups and avoid venturing out alone. Additionally, supporters have been advised against wearing any clothing that identifies them as Chelsea fans whilst in the city. Earlier travel advisories also warned fans against visibly moving in the city as Chelsea supporters.

Chelsea's warning comes amid concerns about potential attacks on visiting fans during UEFA competition matches in Naples. The club had previously issued alerts to fans regarding this possibility.

The match against Napoli is a significant one for Chelsea as they aim to secure a top-eight finish in the Champions League group phase. Currently, Chelsea sits eighth in the Champions League standings.
