Vishal Bhardwaj's 'O'Romeo': Unveiling Triptii Dimri's Performance, Character, and the Film's Overall Vision.

Vishal Bhardwaj's upcoming action thriller, O'Romeo, slated to release on February 13, 2026, is generating significant buzz, particularly regarding Triptii Dimri's character. This film marks Dimri's first collaboration with both Bhardwaj and Shahid Kapoor, promising a fresh dynamic on screen.

Dimri steps into the role of Afsha, an "innocent girl whose life turns upside down". While specific plot details remain under wraps, reports suggest Afsha is inspired by Sapna Didi, a real-life figure from Mumbai's underworld. Sapna Didi sought revenge against Dawood Ibrahim after her husband's murder, adding a layer of intrigue to Dimri's portrayal. Bhardwaj is known for crafting intense characters that exist in moral grey areas, offering Dimri a canvas to explore complex emotions. The recently released trailer indicates a departure from Dimri's previous roles, showcasing a level of intensity that aligns with Bhardwaj's signature style. As Afsha, Dimri embodies a visually stripped-down, emotionally charged, and controlled persona.

According to reports, Shahid Kapoor will be playing the role of Hussain Ustara and Triptii Dimri will essay the role of Sapna Didi.

O'Romeo is reportedly based on Hussain Zaidi's book, Mafia Queens of Mumbai. The film is an action romance set against the backdrop of the Mumbai underworld. Kapoor plays Hussain Ustara, a contract killer who falls in love with Afsha. The film explores themes of love, anger, power, and fear amidst the dangerous streets of Mumbai.

The on-screen chemistry between Kapoor and Dimri is said to be a highlight, expressed through unspoken emotions and a shared vulnerability. The ensemble cast includes Nana Patekar, Avinash Tiwary, Tamannaah Bhatia, Disha Patani, Farida Jalal, and Vikrant Massey.

Vishal Bhardwaj has revealed that O'Romeo faced a decade-long delay due to creative blocks and financial constraints. He expressed gratitude to producer Sajid Nadiadwala for his conviction and support in bringing the project to fruition. O'Romeo marks Bhardwaj's return to directing for a theatrical release after eight years.

The film's narrative draws inspiration from the real-life story of gangster Hussain Ustara and Ashraf Khan, also known as Sapna Didi. However, the accuracy of the portrayal has faced scrutiny, with Hussain Ustara's daughter alleging misrepresentation and claiming that the family's consent was not obtained. Bhardwaj has defended the film, stating that it is based on a book.

O'Romeo promises a high-octane action thriller with a blend of romance and intense drama. The film's trailer offers a glimpse into the violent world and complex relationship between Ustara and Afsha. O'Romeo is produced by Sajid Nadiadwala under Nadiadwala Grandson Entertainment and VB Films.
