After a monumental start, Sunny Deol's "Border 2" has continued its impressive run at the box office, nearing the coveted Rs. 200 crore mark in India within just five days of its release. Despite an expected dip in collections on its first working day after the Republic Day holiday, the film has maintained a strong hold, demonstrating its widespread appeal.
According to early estimates, "Border 2" collected between Rs. 15-17 crore on its fifth day. Sacnilk reports that the film earned approximately ₹19.50 crore net in India on day 5 for all languages. This brings the film's total domestic collection to an estimated Rs 196.50 crore. T-Series reports the film has already crossed the Rs 200 crore mark at the Indian box office, earning Rs 23.31 crore NBOC on Day 5, bringing the total to Rs 216.79 crore.
The film experienced a drop ranging from 47-53% compared to its opening day collections of Rs 32.10 crore. The occupancy rate on Tuesday was 24.82% in Hindi. Morning shows registered 11.21% occupancy, which increased to 24.22% in the afternoon, 29.79% in the evening, and peaked at 34.07% during the night shows.
"Border 2" has already made an impressive Rs 275 crore worldwide. With this, the film has surpassed the lifetime collections of Aamir Khan's "Sitaare Zameen Par" (Rs 266 crore) and Kartik Aaryan's "Bhool Bhulaiyaa 2" (Rs 267 crore).
The success of "Border 2" can be attributed to several factors. Firstly, the film has no significant competition in Bollywood, giving it a major advantage. Secondly, the film has benefitted from positive word-of-mouth, which grew substantially over the opening weekend. The film's strong performance is a testament to its engaging storyline, powerful performances, and effective evocation of nostalgia. Director Shashank Khaitan praised director Anurag Singh for the film's success, noting the audience's enthusiastic reception in theaters. He lauded Sunny Deol's performance and Diljit Dosanjh's screen presence.
Given the current trends, "Border 2" shows no signs of slowing down. The film is expected to continue its successful run in the coming days, potentially reaching the Rs 300 crore mark worldwide soon.
